What do you see as the benefit of learning a new language?

Question

I have spent a lot of time learning several languages and in my opinion it was one of the best things I ever did. I am curious though what other people think the benefits of learning a language are. If you don’t think there are any benefits you can express that as well but put a reason why you feel that way.

I work with a lot of Mexican woman (a couple guys) and while I previously known just enough to do my job, while learning more Spanish I am able to communicate and laugh more with them so it's better for all of us. Plus they see me trying to be part of their world since they are trying to part their world for a change.

I’ve noticed people absolutely love when you learn their language. It created such a connection. That is lost on English speakers.

Yes it is. Because it's mostly other cultures coming him and not us going to other countries.

Your world will expand to so many new and greater levels, especially if you learn English, which is the one that people from so many different backgrounds do learn to communicate with others elsewhere in the world.

As a native English speaker I can tell you that people are so desperate to learn English that I literally had HUNDREDS of requests to help teach me other languages. It was almost overwhelming. But if you know English you can get people to teach you any language for free if you help them. Most native English speakers just don’t learn another language and I think they miss out because of it.

Easier to communicate with others or you if you plan to move to a country where they speak that language it's an advantage for you.

I think it would be fun learning other languages it sounds pretty kinda fun. The most language I want to learn is Spanish.

You definitely should. And make sure you speak it, don't just study it. I speak Spanish and I can tell you it is an amazing language and it will connect you to other cultures so much. Learning languages doesn't have to be boring.
