Thanks for the MHO
A boss can be perceived***
I get that. I've had rapports with bosses like this - my last boss we had an excellent rapport that when I helped him out during a week when his regulars were on vacation I blatantly said he looked weird (he'd cut his hair) and it was the sort of mood/causal banter of friends. ... This current boss has said I can come to him, open communication, etc. but in ways it seems forced if you would
Yeah I think it’s a personality that you have it poses , but it’s very hard for a manager to be neutral in most cases. Most managers that you can usually go to for anything most likely are the same ones that let things slide within the work place that can get them fired.
@kyleelyn199723 - that's the irony this new boss is very much a stickler for rules, etc. and I think that's why I find the concept he is proposing more out there / outrageous / unlikely than if he was like the prior boss (who was more lax).
Yeah my lax boss actually just left also and my manager hired two more managers and I want to know what they are about to be like myself. My lax manager used to sneak me wine here and there.

Sure but there's no need to be their toilet seat
