Can your job make you physically sick?

I've got a crap job.

The company I work for has a storage unit that has boxes filled with files which started from 1990 to present day.

My job is to go through each of these to check if there are any original signed copies of wills and deeds. I also have to take all the paper from the files and throw them out into a large destruction bin.

I've been doing this daily since September 2023. On top of that I'm also covering for our two receptionists when they're away.

If that happens I have to lift these heavy boxes and do it at reception.

The last month though, I have been noticing strange pains in my body.

I have a scar on my left shoulder from an operation I had in the early 90s.

The left side of my neck is painful, my left arm where the bicep is painful. The top of my spine is painful.

I'm also experiencing weird foot pain. When I put my right foot down to walk it feels like pins are stabbing into it. Sometimes my right foot by the Achilles area gives way and I feel like I'm about to loose my balance.

I've had constant pain on the back of my shoulder from my scar, but the files are heavier now. Iift the files out of the box with both hands, but sometimes it pulls a sharp muscle.

I think this job is slowly wearing me out.

When I'm done with the boxes I have to take them apart too.

Could the job I'm doing be a factor into why I'm in so much pain?

I've been telling my family I'm wanting to leave.

All they say is: "You're complaining about lifting boxes? Try organizing events for 40 people or more. "Job market is low, if you find one, you'll be the first person they get rid of, " "Just suck it up, your getting paid."

The one I don't like the most is "Sometimes you have to do what they tell you and suffer in silence"

I don't feel supported by my family. I know they want me to get money but I can't keep doing this for another 6 months of going through this boring painful crap.
