Why won't my family let me quit my job?

I am an Office Assistant and part of my job is unfortunately reception cover.

I've done reception cover before at other jobs but it was always once in a blue moon. Not every week cause two main receptionists are always sick.

We've been back at work for two weeks and one main receptionist was away for two days the first week and one day last week.

So I had to sir with the other receptionist and help her.

One day last year both main receptionists were away on the same day.

That day I was so annoyed.

I had to set up a lunch for 10 people and pick up the lunch from 4 different places. I had to clear the dishes and pack away the groceries, deliver fruit and milk to both levels and also greet clients and make them tea and coffee.

My boss and hr manager were working from home and I had to beg someone to sit at the desk while I had my lunch break.

One of the receptionists is going away for 4 weeks so guess who has to help the other one? Me!

My boss is an assh*le. This has happened before and when I complained about their regular absence she said "this is part of your job"

I am looking for a new job before this girl goes on leave cause the other lady is going to call in sick for sure.

Do you think this is too much work for one person?

If I'm still there when the lady has a sick day would you tell them you quit?

I can't handle this anymore and my family say don't quit your job before you find another one.

I'm having a nervous breakdown being there now.
