Call of duty mobile: a game that has become a shell of it’s former self (updated review)

ADFSDF1996

If you remember my first review of this mobile game, you probably remember how much praise I gave it with some criticisms. However in recent months, the game has sadly become a broken mess. Such is the case with many newer online multiplayer games. The cause of this is all the updates that either introduce unnecessary features, new exploits and new bugs. Call of duty mobile sadly falling victim to all three.

For the past few months each new season continued to update the game which introduces new weapons, perks, characters, misc equipment and even visual changes to the game itself. However with all these new things many unfortunate side effects have pretty much broken the game.

Tremendous lag: The lag in this game gets worse each season, making the game nearly unplayable. From my experience you have to have the latest phones or tablets if you want to avoid the lag. This puts many players at a disadvantage as lag means you will seemingly die faster in the game. It may seem like the other player got you with only 2 or 3 hits but in reality the other player got more than half a clip on you. That’s how bad the lag is. If you experience this lag, you can pretty much only use shotguns to counter the lag.

Campers: I don’t know what happened but ranked modes are now full of campers, especially on the Nuketown map. Almost everyone camps now. It’s even worse when you have a camper equipped with a “MX9”, “Asval” or “M13”. Absolutely no skill from these players as those guns have no recoil, high hip fire accuracy and high power.

Strafe spammers: The main reason why I started to only use shotguns in this game is because too many players like to strafe or constantly Move side to side in order to avoid as much damage as possible until the other player runs out of ammo. So it’s pretty much an exploit as opposed to an actual skill. I got so sick and tired of these players that I got good with shotguns in this game. Shotguns are the best way to counter strafe spammers.

Slide cancel/slide jump spammers: If there is one thing I hate more than strafe spamming its players that constantly slide and jump to avoid damage. The problem with newer call of duty games including COD mobile is the slide mechanic which allows players to pretty much defy physics by sliding and jumping all over the place in order to negate the amount of damage they take. So in a sense call of duty has turned into a video game series of who can shake the screen better. These types of players are another reason why I only use shotguns in call of duty mobile. The easiest way to fix this is by introducing a stamina system and or only letting players slide jump by holding down the jump button instead of just tapping the jump button.

Thermite spammers: The thermite is perhaps the most spammed weapon in this game, it’s a throwable weapon that slows you down while also causing damage. It’s most commonly used in hardpoint matches and it gets annoying to hear the sizzling and cackling noise from a bunch of players spamming this weapon.

Persistence spam: Persistence is perhaps the most hated perk in the game, it allows you to get score-streaks much easier as your score streak points don’t resent when you die in multiplayer. You can pretty much be winning the match but that one player on the opposite team who is using persistence and is also probably camping calls in a Vtol to turn the tide of the battle.

Noob teams: One of the reasons why I pretty much rarely do ranked multiplayer is because I constantly get paired with crappy teams that I have to carry. These players constantly just run out into the open and get instantly sniped. They don’t know the concept of tactics, they just rush into battle like a bunch of zombies. The match barely started, I’ve only made it to a nearby defensive position and we are already losing 0-4 cause my whole team ran out into the open.

cheaters: I don’t think I’ve played against that many cheaters but I know when I’m playing against a cheater that has aimbot or increased speed activated. Aimbot is less common but I do see a lot of players using speed hacks making them harder to hit cause they move faster than you can aim in the game or are very difficult to catch up to.

No skill score streaks: Most score streaks don’t require any kind of skill. But the ones I absolutely hate the most are sentry guns, attack dogs, stealth choppers, shock RCs and VTOLs. They pretty much give free kills as they require no skill whatsoever to use.

Spawn trap: The spawn system in this game is absolutely broken. Unless you are playing frontline mode, there’s a chance a player of the opposite team will spawn behind you. This is more noticeable on smaller maps like shipment.

Clipping glitch: One glitch which absolutely annoys me is when you walk through enemy players. This glitch has been there since the beginning and is often exploited by slide spammers. Since this glitch has been there since the beginning I doubt it will patched any time soon.

Hits don’t register/land: Ever since gunsmith has been added to the game, there are occasions when the projectiles don’t register as damage to the enemy player because of either a bug, lag or the ridiculous projectile spread in the game.

So yeah Call of Duty mobile was fun while it lasted. Hopefully Battlefield mobile and that rumored new call of duty mobile sequel don’t make the same mistakes.
