Have you ever read the source material for for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet? Did it change your outlook on the play?

Aboves a link to The Tragicall History of Romeus and Juliet. It is a poem that Shakespeare used as reference for his play. It's assumed that Shakespeare wrote his play for his daughter. What's interesting to me is the forward of the poem that isn't included in the play. In order to avoid spoiling it I'll stop there. Any one else read this poem? What were your thoughts?
