  • The slasher sub-genre is perhaps one of the most controversial in cinema, it never bodes well with critics, however you have to be dumb to dispute that this is not a classic. The sequels to this movie were also great, however the franchise fell from after the 4th. It was the impact that Alfred Hitchcock had in the horror gnre with Psycho that birthed the pathway which led to the faces of the entire genre, Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers and the infamour Jason Voorhees, the noteable 'big 4', whos influence has been credited even outside the slasher world. With thrillers such as It Follows paying homage to Michael Myers. Psycho is the stepping stone that took horror from monsters to murder, and it was a bloody great leap in my opinion.
