Game franchise? well I have no idea about the game franchise as such but I have played a Mortal Kombat game before.

Yes, I have played a Mortal Kombat game before.

I don't really remember which Mortal Kombat game, but I think MK4, I used to play that game in the year 2001 though.

    4. "Which Mortal Kombat games do you own or liked or enjoyed most? Which ones did you disliked? Or didn't like?"

I don't own Mortal Kombat games anymore and I don't play them now.

      @JudgmentDay

"If you said the screenshot is correct then it's 4. That was the last MK game they made and released at the arcades, since that's where it all began. After that all the games were either on home console systems or PC."

Well, as I said it's been almost 17 years since I played that game last, I think I played this last in the beginning of 2002, the good thing is I still remember the main fighter's screen of that game. I had an idea it was Mk4.

I don't know if they made any future versions of MK for PC releases or not, but if they didn't then it's really surprising that they didn't go forward with that in that last 17-18 years.

    • 1 y ago

@serious They did. Eventually the whole franchise had a complete retcon and re-boot in 2011 or known to some as Mortal Kombat 9, since it was the ninth game part of the main series. And the latest game is Mortal Kombat X or Mortal Kombat XL. You can get them here on Steam:

      store.steampowered.com/.../

      http://store.steampowered.com/sub/128345/

      www.g2a.com/.../mortal-kombat-arcade-kollection-steam-key-global-i10000043815004

You can always wait for a discounted sale first if the price is too much, because, that's what I would do.

Unfortunately they didn't re-release MK4 on Steam, at least not at this time yet.

    • Mortal Kombat X / Mortal Komba XL is what got me interested again and had my attention again on the franchise. Especially when I realized they had added the Predator, Alien, Jason Voorhees as guest characters to the game.

I had also seen someone play the 2011 reboot, which is essentially almost the same thing as Mortal Kombat Trilogy with exceptions the Bosses are unplayable in MK "9" (2011 reboot), but the majority of the original cast from the first 3 MK games is in that game's roster, with a completely overhauled and retconned background plot and everything.

Raiden is fun to use for Single player in MK2, at least for me, he was. I totally destroyed that game with Raiden and had good laughs with it LOL.

    • Glad you liked the video. If you ever do decide to give it a try or if your friends ever play or own it, maybe you can try it. It's over the top bloody and violent and silly as hell. Kind of like that Deadpool movie, with lots of humour, and blood, etc. "Black Humour" or "Black Comedy" basically.

    • When I first played one of the games years ago, it was when I didn't know how to play video games well. So I mostly just pressed random buttons like mad and won sometimes. XD

    • I stopped after MK Trilogy, got interested again as soon as I heard they were going to add Predator and Alien as guest characters in MKX/MKXL.

MK Armageddon had the best intro ever with every character going to war, the way "Armageddon" should be anyway lol.

@decentguy Beating Motaro requires some luck and patience. You also need to master and memorize all of those button link combos. In regular MK3, he will stop blocking the rest of the combo, meaning you can still do decent damage to him and stay in the lead of the match OR you can catch up and still have a chance at a comeback. Later games, however, he blocks entire combos:-( making him very frustrating to beat.

  • I have played an unofficially ported version of one of the first three games, forgot which one, on the NES (or, at least the bootleg version of NES).
The port was kind of a nightmare, though.

But I did like the movie from the 90s and even its universally panned sequel, lol. (and the theme song)

    • 3 was whack as hell LOL. They did way too many versions of MK3, as they had regular MK3, Ultimate MK3 where they brought back all of the "Masked" Ninjas, including the Lady Ninjas When they should have NEVER Removed them in the very first place, and then they went even crazier with Mortal Kombat Trilogy where they brought back a few characters from the first two games that were missing and they ALLOWED all Four Bosses to be usable by players!

      vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/.../latest

Well except for the Nintendo 64 and Game. com versions of MK Trilogy, they didn't have all of the bosses playable.

    • One other thing, in regular MK3, Smoke and Kabal are the most ridiculously broken and OP'd characters.

Smoke can Infinite Loop his Spear Trident Harpoon grab and a low punch repeatedly resetting and cancelling the same thing, spamming it over and over. This was definitely a glitch they overlooked but eventually they "fixed" and removed this in Ultimate MK3 and subsequent MK games.

Kabal was also overpowered and great for trolling newbie players lol

  • Thanks for A2A! :D

My dad gifted me Mortal Kombat 4 for PC back in 2001-2002 I guess. I became a fan. It is still my favourite fighting game. The good things are that it is fast paced and smoother unlike Tekken which is basically keep-tapping-one-button-to-win kinda game. The fatalities, the gore OMG!

Then I played MK: Armageddon. Didn't like it tbh. Then I downloaded MK 2. It was great. Haven't completed it tho.

Now, I have Mortal Kombat (2011). Excellent game. It also helped me in understanding the whole story which made me like it even more. The only downside is that the fatalities, albeit very great, they kill the opponents instantly. We don't get to see them in pain and hear them screaming... which is fixed in MKX.

I'm going to buy MKX as soon as I purchase a new system.

Oh and yes, I'm going to complete the MK Legacy which you recommended :)

I had recently re-played Mortal Kombat 2 on Very Hard and manage to completely finish the game with the ENTIRE playable roster WITHOUT using ANY Continues.

I played the version from Midway Arcade Treasures, so it's more or less an "Arcade Perfect" port. It's overall better compared to the 16-bit older consoles ports, since they were all "Imperfect" ports.

I completely destroyed the ridiculously cheap and annoying computer controlled opponents in that game as they were a major headache and pain in the ass and had been a real nightmare for me over 20 years ago when I first played the game because I kept getting my ass handed to me every single time, and I'm sure many that played that game felt the same way. It just did not feel good getting beaten and bullied by a cheap ass "A. I."

But after learning a few tricks from YouTube, I finally got my payback, and justice is delivered. I just had to confront a "loose end" and now I'm free as I return the favor and kick all of their asses.

Yes, Sub-Zero is restored to human form from his cyborg form in Mortal Kombat X, although IT IS possible to play as the Cyborg version, but you'll have to either buy Mortal Kombat XL OR buy the Tribog character DLC. Basically when you select Triborg, you want to press

Up, Up, Back Punch to get the LK-520 Variation which is essentially Cyborg Sub-Zero

      Or to make things clearer:
Up, Up, Y (if on Xbox One version)
Up, Up, Triangle (if on PS4 version)
Up, Up, "I" (if on PC Steam version)

They already have Alien and Predator now so why not? Freddy would have been a better choice over Leatherface anyway. Or maybe Pinhead or Michael Myers for Kombat Pack 3?

    • Freddy vs Jason MK Style since they already did Alien vs Predator MK Style.

Which Mortal Kombat game do you play or own?

Of all of them MK2 and MK Trilogy are my personal preferred games, and I prefer the original Arcade versions over the the 16-bit console ports as well as any other imperfect ports.

I like the latest one, but never really got back to it.

  • Yeah I was a fan of mortal kombat.
It's from my era of videogames that came out when I was a kid.

I was literally that kid in the arcade who worked out the fatalities. That was the only way you could play it before sega released a console port.
I forgot about the franchise since that time although I do remember the movie.

More recently I played a PlayStation 3 reboot of the franchise.
I enjoyed it and had a nostalgic feeling as I watched my player ripping the skull and spine out of my opponents body and holding it aloft in victory.

I got back into it thanks to whole concept of adding guest characters to make it even more over the top and silly LOL

If you thought the games were over the top back then, well try mixing up Alien, Predator, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface into a Mortal Kombat game, that's exactly what they did with the most recent MK game: Mortal Kombat XL

    • 1 y ago

Yeah the one I played had Freddy Krueger. I would've liked to play him vs Jason. Too bad he isn't included anymore

    • 1 y ago

@OfDeath If you want Jason in Mortal Kombat you'd have to get the most recent MK game:

      http://store.steampowered.com/sub/128345/

Too bad they didn't add Freddy back in. At least I doubt they would. Maybe if they make another DLC pack (Kombat Pack 3), but the company is much more focused and interested in their newer fighting game: Injustice 2 right now.

  • I liked the 2D ones.

    • I only got a chance to play the new Mortal Kombat games when a friend of mines at school had it on his laptop. It's basically 2D plane or 2D fighting game styles but only with 3D models and backgrounds. The newest and the latest MK game, Mortal Kombat X, is really crazy as they added in guest characters like The Predator, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface.

    • Have to try it someday. I just know the ending sequences, brutal, but a little repetitive. I think they got better fatalities in the 90's.

    • Indeed, the "Brutalities" in Mortal Kombat X or MK XL are even more sicker and stylish compared to some of the older 2D MK games.

  • Nah, not really. I used to have one of the games for my gameboy as a kid but that's the extent of my experience with the franchise.

What you think of the newer addition of characters in Mortal Kombat X? Specifically these characters:

      Cassie Cage
      D'Vorah
      Erron Black
      Ferra & Torr
      Jacqui Briggs
      Kotal Kahn
      Kung Jin
      Takeda Takahashi

I thought Erron Black and Takeda had the best design overall out of the new cast. And then you also have the DLC characters although Tanya, Tremor, Bo' Rai Cho and
Goro aren't "exclusively" new to the MK cast.

Predator, Alien, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, makes me wonder who are they going to add in as another guest in "Kombat Pack 3 DLC", I'm hoping for Freddy Krueger to return. I mean, C'MON they basically did Mortal Kombat vs. Alien vs. Predator vs. Jason vs. Leatherface here. Then we can make it MKX vs AvP vs Freddy vs Jason vs Leatherface.

Either bring back Freddy or Ash Williams from Evil Dead or Army of Darkness because WHY THE FUCK NOT? I want another character with a chainsaw and a BoomStick!

    • DareDevil and Punisher would be awesome, they would REALLY fit in with the violent/ slight humour of the games

    • Same for Blade, he has a bit of a healing factor too, but not nearly as ridiculously OP'd compared to Deadpool's so maybe he would be more fitting. I was hoping Blade would have made it to Marvel VS. Capcom 3, but that unfortunately didn't happen probably because of the whole darker and violent nature of his movies, blood, guns, swords, etc. But in Mortal Kombat? There are No such restrictions on adult themes and content so he would fit really well with Fatalities, etc. there.

If you ever decide to play it, let me know how it turns out for you. The older games are very hard, computer opponents are programmed to counter react to every single thing you do automatically and consistently. They anticipate everything that you throw at it, thus the only way to have any sort of chance to beat the computer is to find it's programming flaws and weaknesses in in behaviors and patterns.

Save some money more or less instead of getting DLCs separately. I just heard about it recently they decided to "Un-fuck" Over the PC owners and fans of that game when they had originally announced that DLC was cancelled.

You get to play as the Predator and Jason Voorhees in Mortal Kombat X, and when Kombat Pack 2 or MK XL is finally released on Steam you can also play as the Alien and Leatherface.

  • Nah, not a fan.
