Why does every movie have to be politically analyzed these days?

I was reading the film subcategory of warp that aesop in tvtropes and it reminded me SOOO much of people complaining about SJW propoganda if the people doing it were actually joking and trying to be funny.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WarpThatAesop/Film
But most movies aren't political at all and people seem to be overthinking and overanaylsing it

Updates:
oh here's a good example from that page
Lawrence of Arabia: If you kill enough Turks, Arabs will worship you. This is a desirable thing.
If a group of military men has kidnapped, gang-raped and beaten you, don't worry. They'll just let you go once they are finished. That's the way it always works.
an even better one from the Original Star wars
A New Hope: Drug smugglers are perfectly trustworthy and, if they hang around heroes long enough (a day or two) eventually become heroic.

  • I agree. I don't give a damn who's in the movie. A good movie is a good movie. Denzel is a great actor. So is Tom Hanks... so what? If its good, watch it!

What Girls Said 5

  • Today people want to be "included" in movies. They want it so bad to the point they will make a shitty movie, but it's okay because they have x minority in it. The sad this is they will be okay with it. Look, I don't mind having more black people, women, lgbt, etc. roles in movies at all. It's okay to have more diversified roles in movies. I also understand if you are doing a live-action movie and the race is specified, then yeah you should get an actor that is that race. For example, the Mulan live-action should have an Asian actress, but a GOOD one that plays the role of Mulan well. Don't just put a terrible Asian actress simply because Mulan is Asian and so is the actress. That is where companies fuck up. However, I wouldn't want those roles or the whole movie to be shitty just to have said minority in a movie. And i feel like if someone was to say said movie was bad, you're a racist or a homophobe or whatever buzz word the public throws at you. They do all that for criticizing a shitty ass movie. And I wouldn't say that's the only reason why but that is one of them.

    • 'Don't just put a terrible Asian actress simply because Mulan is Asian and so is the actress.'
would you rather have a good white actress playing her,
That's the situation the ghost in a shell movie is in

    • Show All
    • @Iraqveteran666 'Notice how very little was said about Johnny Depp playing tonto, maybe they paid money to a few tribes. '
That was the least of that movies problems, dear god it SUCKED

    • It sacked but Depp "black faced" up to play a native American. Django like all Tarrantino films was pure social justice Warrior porn lol

  • It's always bee this way now people have just more voices to express it on social media

  • The Angry Bird Movie: Malicious foreigners invade the home of the birds and they have to band together and resort to violence to expel the invading pigs, despite the very vocal maligning of the bird initially for getting rid of the foreign beings.

  • Everything is political because power structures exist throughout society. Having a sociological imagination and therefore not being able to consume any media uncritically might be kind of taxing, but it's important to always think critically because it's one way of refusing to give up your power and accept the unequal systems we live within as 'just how the world is and will always be'.

What Guys Said 14

  • That is the way of the world these days, EVERYTHING is politicized now!

Even to the point that staying neutral and NOT making political statements... is seen as a political statement in itself.

  • Because academics have made an industry out of teaching film and book analysis.
Such academics are, of course, all cultural Marxists.
One of the English content subjects of the secondary education degree that I completed a couple of years ago dealt entirely with the analysis of films and books, to determine narrative, privilege, etc, etc, etc.
I received a high distinction (of course :-) ) but the subject was 100 per cent Marxist indoctrination.
Few of the teenagers and 20-somethings in the course with me were informed, or intelligent, enough to recognise the nature of the poison that was being force fed to them.

  • Because the writers/producers/directors involve politics in their movies in the first place. People are getting cast just because of their race, gender or ideology instead of talent. Jew Jew Abrams even admitted it during pre production of Star Wars 7. Chris Weiz the writer for Rogue One has talked about an Empire that is supposed to be a "White Supremacist" organisation and then you have as an enemy of theirs a group of non-White people in the majority and as the leader the dynamic independent feminist who is a feminist in real life as well.
You get gay couples in movies like Star Trek or Independence Day without them being necessary or having anything to offer in the story. They are merely included so the producers can say they have gay people in the movie. The list can go on and on with dozens of examples.
The communist Left ruins society as a whole, so they ruin entertainment as well.

  • The thing that makes me wanna scream is when people take historicaly based films (accurate or otherwise) and warp the story to fit a modern agenda that makes no sense. You give a good example

  • Well lawerence of Arabia is basically the narrative that the white man is the saviour of native peoples. Think dances with wolves, last of the mohicans, tarzan and the latest offering with Matt Damon basically saving China. Though the white male hero is being replaced by a strong white woman hero who saves the day and fights besides minorities against evil CIS white males, think the latest Starwars offerings.
The first 3 Starwars movies basically represent how if you are the only female in the Galaxy your pussy will be put on a pedestal.

  • Most movies have sub-political messages, they wouldn't be so politically analyzed if the director and writers weren't so insistent in creating some sort of political message

  • Because unfortunately that seems to be the thing now. Everything has to be politically correct otherwise some special snowflake will get offended, and as you know that is now the absolute worst thing you can do to someone.

  • It's the same reason people try to derive meaning from a black square. To sound intelligent. They want everyone else to think they are a genius. This is what social media does.
