Is there a video game you played as a kid that you'd like to watch your (future) kid play?

There are a few games I'd like to watch my future kid play just to see his reaction. Shadow of the Colossus is #1.

(I mean if you like to see them play, even if they don't.)

  • I have a bunch of those in mind, but primarily:
Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX
    Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3
The Ace Combat franchise up to Ace Combat 3.

FYI, there are other games that I would want my future kid to be exposed to, but a lot of them I played as an adult, so they don't really count (seeing the question requests games that I played as a kid).

    • Yeah. I would be choosing other games if I meant to include games I played as an adult. Games that bring back childhood memories and the feeling of nostalgia is what I really asked for.

  • I love this question! If my kids are gonna play a video game from my past it's gotta be Super Mario Sunshine. I used to play that game for hours with my mom and they have to experience that some day.

    • Nice memories. :]

    • I think it needs a remake that could fix some of it few problems like the camera control
Something like the Wind Waker remake would be great

  • The Lion King, Aladdin, Castlevania, Jurassic Park (Super Nintendo)
Yoshi's Story, Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of time and Majora's Mask, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Bomberman, Kirby, Mortal Kombat (nintendo 64)
Castle Crashers, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Mario Bros Melee, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Resident Evil 4, Need for Speed, Resident Evil 5 and 6, The Evil Within...
I wrote them in orden of importance, the way I would be handling them over to them as they grow old. Also so they can apreciate the evolution of games hehe. Basically every game I've played that I've enjoyed. There are some I didn't liked so I would forget about those.

What Guys Said 88

  • Of course not. That's a 20+ year age gap! Whatever I would have played will be an antique and likely impossible to play by the time the kid could play that game.

Me personally, ... there aren't too many Asteroids arcade machines around...

  • Mirrors Edge, the first one, and the Uncharted Series. Why in God's name would you want your kids to play a boring game like Shadow of the Colossus? 😂😂😂 I mean it had pretty art but how much more boring gameplay can you get?

    1|0
    0|0
    • Eh. I wouldn't call it boring. Just different. But I loved it because of the story, the world, the mood, the music, rather than just the gameplay.

    • The story was pretty tough to discern, but yes, it did have beautiful art.

    • It wasn't that hard. But yeah, starts and ends a bit vague, like Ico. They creators have their own style of storytelling.

  • i grew up with the sega master system and NES but the one game i associate with my early child hood is chuck rock.

i dont have kids but if i did they would grow up playing the nearly impossible shit games i did lol. darksouls, bloodborne? yeah, you dont know difficult until youve played the 8 bit consoles and earlier.

  • If I ever have children, I intend to introduce them to games in the same fashion that I was introduced.

So we're going to start with the NES, because as much as I loved it when I was a kid, Atari was and remains crap.

  • Roblox, so they can experience running over trees and people. Hijacking cars and a school. Locking people in their houses and making them commit suicide to get out. Stealing husbands and murdering everyone because I'm a criminal or police officer. Also surviving a train crash and killer Jason if that game even still exists and they do that. Roblox was the original GTA for me haha. Also, they should play Resident Evil and Pac Man.

  • I'd say zootycoon. The old one you need to make all the animals happy and they have specific requirements. They don't want too much grass not too much visitors etc. You need to satisfy them in their needs.

Else I'd say Animallica, but perhaps due to the jumpscares I'd wait until they are 16... wouldn't want them ending up with a trauma. It's about curing animals and getting rid of a mutation gen. Doing some good along the way.

I find it important that they get some management skills while also learning something about taking care of something and different biomes.
