I don't really care tbh.I'm kinda sick of seeing Michael B. Jordan though... I think I am the only one tired of seeing him. But anyways, I don't know why anyone would complain. Nobody was complaining when it was majority white people playing characters in movies. There are many things that whites have whitewashed and if you mention something about it then all of a sudden you are considered sensitive and need to get over it. Nobody asked why there weren't any more Asain or Spanish characters playing in movies when it was majority white people. But now when there's a black person with a lead role then its a problem😂😂😂 people crack me up.I don't take most people seriously anymore because they fail to keep the same energy🤷🏾 And its funny how people will get so worked up over a movie and act like this is the end of the world. I am 17 and I even have better stuff to worry about than the race of a character in a fiction movie. But just watch people try to start an argument lol I'm not entertaining any of that because I am learning where and where not to place my energy😊😉
Right. A fictional fantasy character means a lot in today's world. 🤪
It's ridiculous.. People actually worship these characters.I was at the bookstore a couple of weeks ago and there was this convention for Harry Potters birthday i guess and there were people acting like he was some kind of god or something. I thought it was sad because Harry Potter is just evil tbh. It's all witchcraft but even if it wasn't evil, I never understood the facination of Harry Potter in the first place🤷🏾
Me neither. You weren't even born when my teacher in middle school was making us read Harry Potter. Damn, I feel old talking to you. 🤪
Well mostly i would think it was gay that they dont make new films. I really hate this modern guilt bullshit where heroes characters must be something other than a white guy.I dont care what gender or race the hero is because I am not a sexist or racist, but when you remake films and change the genders and races you are being sexist and racist, its pathetic. Now ok, maybe there is some fantastic reason why there is a black superman and out the 2 choices that one would be the least awful because the idea that there was also a black guy on Krypton who also made it to earth for whatever reason and thus gained the same super powers as super man is totally reasonable.Batman however is a white guy, Bruce Wayne is a white guy, changing that is not ok because it doesn't fit with the established narrative and the only reason for doing it is because you are pathetically desperate to try and demonstrate you aren't a racist by ironically acting in a way that proves you are one.ridiculous.
I don't know, maybe. I'd consider it. Generally, if it feels like PC SJW pandering, then I'm probably out. But if it makes sense, great. Luckily, with a lot of comics, there are either multiple heroes to adopt a name (either by passing a mantle, or "franchising" (like Batman), or alternate history/parallel earths) and constant retconning to tell new stories, so there's opportunity. I think that if you're not damaging the basics of the character, you're good. Part of me says that if you find a truly talented actor that almost transcends a role, it doesn't really matter. I think Samuel L Jackson brought it as a fantastic Nick Fury. He made MCU Nick Fury his. Before, in comics, he was portrayed (at least usually) as a white dude. Of course, Nick Fury was kind of a bad ass. SJ exemplifies that kind of bad ass character as is, so it was a great fit. But don't do it to a major, main character just because it's cool, or you want to be "woke". A Kryptonian who somehow ends up on Earth and has those same powers and teams up, great... or Superman dies, and somehow passes on the name with his blessing, cool. You want to tell a story of Terry Mcginnis who becomes a new Batman after Bruce Wayne gets too old? Fine, he's not as huge (or well known) a character. An alternate Earth Batman, or a Batman that was trained by Bruce Wayne to be another caped crusader with the name "Batman", tell that story, and you have more leeway.
I don't care if the producers decide that is what the market wants. There was a black and Asian 1997 Cinderella movie and that was successful enough. Blacks and Asian are part of our society so if they are included in some movies, that's fine. However, I don't political correctness crammed down our throats. There are a few black women judges and I'm fine with showing one in a movie. However, I don't want a black, black woman, or woman judge in most every movie that has a judge. That’s not reprehensive; that’s political correctness gone to the extreme. There are black with white girlfriends so I don’t mind occasionally seeing a black man white. However, I don't want a black man and blonde girl romance in most every romance movie. That’s not reprehensive; that’s political correctness gone to the extreme. However, I don’t want to see another world class woman astronomer, because there is not a signal world class woman astronomer in the entire world. Nor do I want to see another black or woman computer genius because they don’t exist. That’s not reprehensive; that’s political correctness gone haywire. If some liberal political correct fool wants to claim otherwise, don’t say it. Prove me wrong, educate me, and provide the link.
Hmm. I thought Robert Patterson, AKA Sparkly boy vampire was supposed to be the next Bruce Wayne. It wouldn't really matter to me. Just doesn't really make sense why Hollywood can't just use any of the already established black characters. Give me a movie with Steel. After all, he's John Henry Irons, a black character that at first replaced Superman after he was killed by doomsday in the comics. It would be so much better.
Why not? I think when these comics were made things were different in terms of race especially when you consider Superman came out during WW2 but I think today a black Superman would be a very positive thing in terms of racial equality. Yes controversial in some ways for fans but if the actor fits then it's a good thing. I do have to say though they have already decided their next Batman however I wouldn't say that would mean there couldn't be a black joker? I mean when the actor puts that make-up on does it matter the race of the actor?
I'd disappointed cause your changing foundation of the characters. Superman is a pretty much a God. He's struggle to relate with the small guys, when his saving the world all the time. Having a Superman white makes him have to work harder to gaing all the other races trust and flip side it makes it easier to lose their trust fast. Batman is a rich kid with issues. He’s struggling to fit in a world where white rich guys are seen as evil. Want movies of these tow iconic white heroes getting called racist for saving more white people or other races. Superman struggles with the fact that every second someone is in danger and he can't save everyone. The race would have to come into his decision making to not come off a racist. Also if you make them black then you destroy possible movies for great characters like John Stewart Green Lantern that were created to represent minorities. If Perter Parker was black in the mcu then they could never introduce Miles Marelis.
You know they offered the Superman Role to Dwayne" The Rock" Johnson over a decade ago and he declined because he said he wouldn't be able to pull off a half black half Samoan Superman.I personally don't care whether Superman is black or white. I'll watch all the same. I just don't get the changing of all the superhero's lately let's make Superman black, let's make Thor a woman etc.I mean if there's one message i feel that comics reinforce is that we are all equal there is only good and evil and you choose that path.
Michael J is not a good actor. Likely only gets roles because of his name.I do wish they'd stop the black washing of everything. It's so tiresome. Make a new superhero, and make him whatever color you want. Fine. No one will care (black panther did well, for some reason)Stop changing things that have been set just because the wind is blowing in another direction.
I have never seen him act, but he looks like a cool dude fit to be a actor.
Well someone thinks he's a actor. That's he's in movies lol
@TavionRiley Yeah but so was Jayden Smith :P
That is also true
I don't care if these fictional characters were depicted as white, black, or otherwise. Why? They're fictional. Even Superman isn't human, and is an alien. Who cares? Not me.However, if you're depicting a real person, it would be utterly stupid to do something like that.Shaka Zulu is black.William Wallace is white.
They already lost my money. I don’t pay to go to movies, for pay per view, cable/satellite, internet subscription services, or watch TV advertising because they can’t do their job right. They can do whatever they want at this point and still never get my money back. They’ve fucked up too much.
So Hollywood is pretty much only making the same story's but with a different race seems pretty lame at lest make the character and storyline different like they did with black Cinderella With Brandy in the 90s the story was different and had its own charm.
Yes/No. I like the appreciation to my race and seeing a black superman and batman would be nice but the movie will be used to push a political agenda which will take all the fun out them. Otherwise it would be nice though who needs them when we might get john Stewart
Why can't black people make their own super heroes?Whites too! Its like no one realizes super heroes are fictional characters who are easily replaceable. Both Black and White people have real heroes in their history. I think White people in particular need to stop watching marvel movies. too bad they can't organize as a collective like the black americans can
Bollywood's got you beat. They already had an Indian superman and an Indian woman spiderman in the 90shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cyq5Wk0n7M
That's a music video. I'm talking about a movie.
You seem to be indiyan. Fuck that ball wood shit
If they make them new characters I don't careIf they just change the character actors I willThis is comic the characters have a look, they got a storyChanging it for the wrong reasons mattersBeside is "Black" so unpopular they don't think they can make an original/existing character they need to build on an existent one?
While I wouldn’t necessarily care, I would wonder why they didn’t make a movie about a bad ass character that hadn’t already been so over done.
I think I'd be okay with a black Batman, I can definitely see him falling off the attitude. However Superman is one of my all-time favorite comic book superheroes, and I'm not sure that I would be comfortable with such change. I feel like it would ruin one of my best childhood memories and I would probably provide a very negative review on the movie.
They shouldn't do both. One would be fine. Having all black superheroes is just as bad as having all white superheroes.
Well I guess for younger kids that is fine for them but older fans are not going to watch, Not because of any sort of racism but because Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are white guys. You change their race you are completely changing who they are and it is not the same.
Lets change this round, if some of my fave black heros like spawn, steel and falcon were cast as white actors id be pissed, it totally changes the characters appearance and tone of what made them well them, its like when they start changing a charaters sexuality its like why? Simply make a new character thats whatever race and sexual identity and dont mess with already established ones :)
He isn’t an experienced actor, only did commercials really, probably a billionaire now so he doesn’t need the money, I guess this is a publicity stunt for Hollywood. If they are going to use a black actor then probably Terry Cruz would make more sense or Idris Alba , either way they need to change the storyline and not replace with a different color actor

I don’t think I’d be surprised anymore. This just seems like pandering. It’s lazy. I wish they’d come out with badass movies again for POC.
I wouldn't be at all surprised. Batman never needed to be redone after the Tim Burton with Michael Keaton films anyway. I've seen them a and those ones are still the best ones.Superman was never that good anyway.
The first ever Batman movie I watched was the Dark Knight like 4 days ago.. If it wasn't for the Joker, the movie will be pure trash.
The heath Ledger performance of the joker saved that movie.I recommend watching the first time they did it. Michael Keaton was batman, Kim Basinger was Vicki Vale and Jack Nicholson was Joker. It's a brilliant movie with real actors. Somewhat dated but it's in a fictional setting and was ahead if it's time for 1989. This was the formula all of the other ones have tried to copy since. And if you like that, watch Batman returns. Again, Michael Keaton is Batman, Danny DeVito is Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer is Cat woman and Christopher Walken plays an overzealous corporate con man who ties the story together. It's another example of real actors playing these goofy cartoon characters and it works.
I'd give up on Hollywood, and start my own movie-making enterprise that reflects the majority of this country, not a tiny loud-ass minority.
I wouldn't have any particular reactions. So what if they were black super heroes.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse was awesome, and incorporating culture that isn't white really jazzed up the typical storyline. I think it's cool. There's no point doing a million remakes with the same archetype.
It just bothers me that they're doing it for political points. If they make new black characters I don't care.
Sounds like fun. Maybe they can change the races and backgrounds of the character to see how it would work. There is no reason Superman or Batman need to be White nowadays.
I'm not sure if a black man with superman's mandatory signature curl would work. I'd rather they did something new, the black green lantern is the best one, cyborg needs his origin story after JL and John Jones could be done really well.
Just like Idris Elba was supposed to be James Bond.Rumors are just rumors.
I'm not incredibly surprised... Will Smith was cast for Superman once!
I’m not into these superhero movies anyway, but I’d still boycott them for these racial changes... especially when no black character is being changed to white in case it’s “racist”
It's just a movie so who should care one way or the other!
I would assume that they dont have enough faith in the project and are trying to get people in seats with a gimmick.
Why not. Even now there seems more black people on TV, why not go all the way and have a Black Bond...
I’d be okay with a black Batman but I feel like Superman should always be white, a farm boy from Kansas and I just feel like he should be white
Well, I'd prefer watching the movie.I wouldn't care.
I won't go see it just like i never see the other shit they make. Fuck hollyweird
Only if classic POC super heroes can be remade as white heroes without backlash.( Note, I said can and not should)But they would, so if it can't happen that way it shouldn't happen in reverse.
"Rumor has it" uhhhh where. Post proof of this "rumor" or I smell bullshit.
like are the side kicks going to be white or black like super girl an robin have to seeing really movie is good enough
As long as he can act, it doesn't matter. His race isn't essential to the storyline.
They already made a Bat-man that breaks both of his cardinal rules (never using guns, and never killing)
Rumours are wrong. And if he was it would have to be one for another universe. Which they won't do. They are sticking with the classic
I couldn't give two shits. Never watch them anyways. Now a black woman 007... Ian Fleming is rolling in his grave. Leave it to the English to out "PC" California and Canada. Nothing like a politicsl correctness pissing match.
It would feel too different, especially for ones as classic as those.
I love superman but I feel that the black Americans should come up with there own hero's and not copy white America or vise versa. Look at black Panther outstanding super hero.
Same reaction I have to all the sjw pandering. I won't watch.
For the simple fact that this would be strictly a PC move, I think it would suck. It will also cause the fan base to back off spending their $ on such a project.
A bit silly - it would clearly be deliberate to make a statement. Bat Man was never black in the comic books.
I'm back and nah. They're doing the most now. Some things are better left s they are. They're just doing it as a publicity stunt. When there's alit of controversy surrounding something, many people will be in watching it.
Does it matter if they changed the race of characters. I mean would be so bad. I'd even like to see all races of characters changed. I mean they even have a way to them having the multiverses
No they're iconic stories that we grew up with. I'm mixed raced black/white dad Indian/Ethiopian/Indian mom. I wouldn't want batman to be black. It's like people making the black panther Asian in the future. It just wouldn't work
I'd like if they created more characters that are people of color
Ok I understand, so if they make characters of color the should be original not characters that already exist;that is plausible
Wait! Do you intend to say that these two are NOT black? Never have been?
Obviously Superman nor Batman have been a black character.
Hmm..Just get the basketball Michel Jordan to play Superman , cos he can really fly.
Kinda stupidCause can we also have an Asian, latin, midde eastern superman too then 😂
Why shouldn't there be?Racists wouldn't want this, that's for sureBut seriously, who cares?
Okay. Whatever, I prefer Flash.
I would love it so much
Don't care if he can act well.
