Elliot Page: Juno star announces he is transgender
The Oscar-nominated star of Juno has announced that he is transgender, introducing himself as Elliot Page in a social media post.
The Canadian-born actor, formerly known as Ellen Page, said he could not "begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self".
"I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer," he wrote on Twitter.
Page also used the post to address discrimination towards trans people.
"The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared. I'm scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the 'jokes' and of violence," the 33-year-old wrote.
"To be clear, I am not trying to dampen a moment that is joyous and one that I celebrate, but I want to address the full picture. The statistics are staggering."
Addressing the trans community, Page said he would "do everything I can to change this world for the better".

being trans is still a pseudoscience, there is no such thing as the 2nd definition of gender (its a synonym for sex, not an identity) and gender studies is not real science because it examines empirical data ONLY through the observation of people who claim they see it, not the scientist making a direct observation (this is also why studies of ghosts is fake by the way, people claim they see it but no scientist can demonstrate in numbers that they see it)

I'm not trashing on trans people, but this is getting a bit too far. I'm fine with gays lesbians trans any kind of gender that they wanna call themselves as long as they don't try to mush it in my face every 5 minutes. It's a mental disorder and usually it leads to people feeling more depressed because of the hormonal treatments and it doesn't turn out the way they wanted. I don't care personally, they can do whatever they want but it's a strange thing that we are questioning our own gender. Does it really matter that much?
I've always loved her in anything so I'm excited for him to do new things, him and his wife seem really happy regardless so I think that's what matters mainly. I'm proud that he came out with this, it'll probably make a lot of trans kids feel seen which is important

Ellen can change her name to Elliot, throw a hissy fit on late night television, or whatever else suits her fancy, but nothing is going to change her chromosomes or DNA.
Also, by leftist gender theorist make believe hokey logic, she's now a straight white male, which means "Elliot Page" is now officially privileged, and has to apologize for every female role ever taken in a movie or TV series. Hey, they canceled Scarlet Johansson for being cast as a transgender woman using pretty much the same argument, so it's only fair...
I saw a tweet from one of the insane feminazi "kill all men" types who said Elliot was to be congratulated for coming to terms with his new gender identity, but now that he was a while hetero male he needed to be cancelled/killed.
There's a lot of insane people out there, making a massive deal over who is calling themselves what. I'm not that crazy, so I don't give a shit what someone I'll never meet is calling themselves these days. If I did meet them, I'd say Page, you'll be the sexiest androgynous beanpole skinny thing in your immediate vicinity for a few more years at best. Good luck.
If it makes the person happy then that is the most important thing. Of course there will be arguments to be made that people should not question their sexuality or their gender but I disagree. Everyone has their own definition of themselves even for sexuality and gender. In my opinion, these people who make the choice to change gender are spending thousands of dollars for whatever reason. Everyone has a different reason as to why they change gender but that is their business. I think people should be respectful and try not to assume gender even though that is an extremely difficult thing to do with the way society has been about assuming genders. It takes time, being around transgender people, and understanding the different sexualities over time
I'm glad she has found a lot of self acceptance and freedom from this announcement but I can't help feeling a twinge of sadness that it's necessary. Why do we have to define our selves so rigidly to labels just so that everyone else recognises something that they can understand? Perhaps that's an important aspect of being a celebrity. For every person who feels the need to define themselves to a specific gender, there is another person who doesn't, but now feels increasingly pressured to conform to that expectation.

Frankly, I'm disappointed. I thought that Ellen was a very attractive woman and I don't feel that way about E. Page now (I hate pronouns in these situations). I DO NOT agree with people name calling or trying to shame this person. But I must say that it is difficult to accept a person radically changing one of their most defining personal characteristics (their gender). You can't expect the whole world to think that it is a great idea. For those of us who grew up with traditional ideas about genders and masculinity/femininity, the concept of a transgendered person is very difficult to reconcile with this world view.
Think about what it means to be transgender. Sex is a reflection of a chromosomal composition (x, x or x, y). Gender on the other hand, is a reflection of a way of feeling and declaration. Ex. I feel like I am a man so I declare I am a man and will use male pronouns. Now we can analyze Page's new identity; she is merely saying she feels like she is a man, but implicit in the definition of gender is that she knows she isn't a real man. Essentially, being transgender is meaningless because the only meaning it conveys is that they inhabit a reality they cannot obtain.

I don't know how you derived the meaningless part. Fundamentally I don't think many transgender people would claim they are biologically that sex but if they wanna dress like I guess it's okay no? Meaninglessness implies there is a certain uselessness in the claim itself but that seems irrational if the claim is or seems in a way self sufficient.

At no point did I say trans people assume they have the biological composition that they desire. " Lol. The meaning behind gender, is that someone feels like they are something are a male or female. This is meaningless to most people because I don't care what reality you feel like inhabiting; instead, I care about the actual reality you are encountering. First of all it’s he, and by using she you’re just being a huge asshole. Second gender dysphoria is a medical condition and a treatment is gender reassignment surgery. Are you also against chemotherapy for cancer patients?
@Zeldaismyqueen Actually you're wrong based on the available evidence. Gender dysphoria is being transgendered with transgendered-related depression (being depressed regarding your trans-identity). There is no evidence that Page has this. Secondly, I don't take any issue with an individual choosing to craft a synthetic penis from their elbow fat and attach it to their pelvic area (that is approximately, the procedure you're making reference to); you can choose what to do with your body so long as it doesn't harm me or anyone else. Also, I'll just add that you have strawmanned me; I never made the argument that gender-reassignment surgeries are bad. I don't know why you even brought it up. They are not efficacious in treating people with gender dysphoria anyways. The suicide between groups that undergo the transition is roughly the same as those who choose not to.
Also, I am not being an "asshole" by referring to Page as a she. We choose people's pronouns in a way that is sex-laden (based on their biology). This is done because it is meaningful; it informs us about an important piece of who that person is. Do you know what isn't meaningful enough to warrant choosing one's pronouns based on? The sex someone wishes they occupied. This is what comprises transgenderism. I don't care if you think you are a penguin, giraffe, man, woman, whatever; that isn't something that warrants representation by pronouns.

I don't know how we categorize them and it doesn't matter because men are people with an x, y pairing and women are those with an x, x pairing. Born a woman is a woman. Born a man is a man. Intersex is rare and not what most people think. No one is completely half. They are often not completely developed males and have undescended testicles. Or female with higher T-levels and no breast. Ellen Page is not intersex. She is either another Liberal attention seeker or another mentally ill actress. Sadly both a very common, but the first is easier to help. If she is taking steroids as a female can render her infertile and increase cancer risk. Have nothing wrong with trans people. In my view, she will always be a woman, no matter what she or anyone else says. But no skin off my back. Don't know why it's always an announcement, seems like a personal thing. But I guess it's so people know what to call her/him, but I don't see why anyone cares who people fuck or what they have between their legs. I doubt she will be getting any male roles anytime soon though.

If we're trying to make it a normalised thing it shouldn't be a big thing with dozens of articles. Report it in one of those celeb gossip mags or just have a tiny article that says "oh by the way, these celebs have decided they're now X, Y and Z."
It's the same with the whole reporting on Philip Schofield being gay, if it's a normal thing it should be reported in the same way as people with interests in certain types of women or men.

I kinda used to like her back in Xmen and that time she was in a video game was good too. But this business is just someone who's clearly washing up and looking for new support and backing to reignite a career. And yes I said "she" because she's a woman doesn't matter what she calls herself, we are born one way or the other, it sucks for some people but it is what it is.

I felt when she announced she was lesbian, so many other Hollywood celebrities were doing the same type of things "to get attn" for careers that were in a lull or going no where.
If someone is happy in their own skin, in their life irrespective of what gender they have, what is their caste no nothing as such should be seen! I feel that people should feel inspired from her because she openly came out and she feels happy about it. So, we should support her rather of bashing her.
