Do women make more menacing main antagonists these days?

Anonymous
There's just something about villainesses that makes them more menacing as main antagonists. The idea of a female main antagonist has been around for many years, an early example was Snow White's Queen Grimhilde.

Good examples include Cortana from Halo 5, Kronika from Mortal Kombat 11 and the Dark Queen from Battletoads.

Another interesting take on it was the Amazon Killer, one of the lead commanders of the Vader clan, from Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan, while all three protagonists were male.

Women have a tendency to be more greedy, emotional and hypocritical. So I feel that makes them more menacing as the main villainesses than men are.

Any thoughts on this? Do we need more female main antagonists?
