What are the reasons for a person to be controlling?

Is there anyone here who has psychiatric training or a degree in psychiatry. I want to understand why someone goes out of their way to tell you that you are doing something wrong, or not to do something. It's like nagging but it's far worse. You have experience in what you are doing or you do something a certain way because that's how you do it but this person always has to put her two cents in.
