How much time would you wait to give a person your number just to be friends?

It depends. I have friends I've waited weeks, months, or even YEARS before we exchanged numbers! I'm not big on social media; I prefer texting or talking in person, so social media would probably be a last resort for me.

But as for ideal timeframe to exchange numbers for a friend? Maybe a few months, after you're both comfortable with each other and the trust factor is there. Though the last friend I gave my number to was because we work together and it was the easiest way to get ahold of him, lol. And we just kept talking after that!

Just nonchalantly offer it to him or her one day or say, "You should give me your number so we can text each other!" And see how they react. Usually if they're comfortable with you, it shouldn't be an issue. But if they drop it or seem hesitate? Nope, it's not time yet, or they rather not give you their number.

Very soon. I have only a few close friends. And we text on a regular basis, probably a conversation every couple days. So as soon as we wouldn't be seeing each other for some time, I'd hand over my number. But usually it's right away.

Sometimes, it depends on the motive or reason such person is asking for the number.
If it's a right motive, you shouldn't wait longer before the person should give you the number

I often just exchanged contacts on the first day we met, like get into a conversation, talk about things, places to hang out, invite them to hang out sometime.

But someone has to be fairly impressive for me to offer it in the first place.
