Plus a lot better the renting, can actually save to buy a house instead
How did you decide on 20%
My mum decided it
do you recommend having a written contract?
No, there my parents don't need have a contact we trust each other
That’s exactly what my mom did. To teach me financial responsibility. Didn’t tell me she was keeping it and when I moved out she gave me all the money back.
So 100 a month if over 18?
Maybe. I Mean I don't like taking huge chunks of money from my kid.. Though I don't have any yet.
Would 30% of their pay be good since that’s about what experts say you should spend on rent or housing?
Maybe a bit much as they ought to be saving. Suppose if you are putting an amount away for them then it would be fair
Would 15% be better and more fair?
It wouldn't seem unreasonable But then you wouldn't necassarily know how much they're earning
You would if you ask them also do you recommend having a written contract?
I wouldn't go that far. Would inturf my son out onto the street for not paying, not sure i would.
How much do you think is fair?
Every situation is different. For me it worked out to about 10% of what I was making.
It was still way cheaper then when I moved out on my own.

Sounds fair to e. depends on how much you make I guess.
Why should they kill themselves if they have their teenage kids doing chores?
