Why do people think that when someone doesn’t want to be their friend anymore, that the person was a “fake friend” or a “user”?

I see posts on the internet that say things like:

“You never lose friends. You just learn who your real ones are.”

Do people really not think that two well-meaning people can simply outgrow one another or that a person with good intentions has a breaking point and realizes that the bullshit that comes with the friendship outweighs the benefits?
