What should I do to help? Is there such thing as to much help? Is there a line an how would I know I've crossed it?

So I recently moved in with a friend her boyfriend as well their children. she's at home kids are in school her boyfriend works days. You get the point. . . I haven't had roommates in years an due to quarantine have rarely been around anyone most this year. They have givin me a lot it seem while thus far aren't asking for much anything in return. Life would seem pretty easy but. . . its awkward. How? What? Should I would you? . . do in this situation?
What should I do to help? Is there such thing as to much help? Is there a line an how would I know I've crossed it?
