In some ways I have to agree with your cousin, it's perfectly understandable if it's a medical necessity to have a C-section, otherwise it's just a simple cop-out.

If I ever get pregnant I'm scheduling a c-section because no way in fuck do I want to put myself through a vaginal delivery.

Birth is defined as: the emergence of a baby or other young from the body of its mother.

C-sections do fulfill that definition.
