Are Canadians and Americans basically really really similar? Like do they have the same culture and the same personality as Americans?

There's definitely a lot of similarity; the core Canadian culture can be considered an outgrowth of the pre-UK English culture more than its American counterpart, but the base is the same, though the US has more influence from other European ones (mostly the Irish and German, but the French is big, too). And obviously, US and Canadian culture have influenced each other enormously over the years. In general, you'll find a lot more similarity than you will difference.

Canada is a weird place though.
In the west you'll find a lot of similarities to Americans.
There's not likely a lot of difference between the people in Montana, Washington state, Alberta, B. C. and Alaska. Hard working people.
As you move east people kinda talk differently and probably have more unique cultures.
The french and the Newfies and all that.

Mostly, yeah. Though Canada is more liberal and has a reputation for being more friendly.
