Always step heel-to-toe, tiptoeing will just throw balance off. (The only time you should tip-toe is going up stairs.)
Keep your back upright and your arms low and centred to keep your centre of balance stay where it should be. Let your hands sway around your hips as should feel natural.
Heel wearers don't just do that tightrope walk thing because it looks nice - stepping one foot in front of another helps with balance.
Be mindful of terrain - and keep in mind your soles - rubber soles are harder to balance in on carpet, but easier on solids, vice versa for plain grip-less soles as is typically found with stilettos.
It also helps to get you a guy you can link arms with.
