My grandfathers are both short men who got married, one to a taller wife, and I've also seen couples out holding hands where the girl is taller and in photos where the girl is taller and on tv where the girl is taller

To be very honest yes. I've never actually seen an attractive guy. Even models and actors aren't attractive to me. I am straight and into guys but i just dont find them attractive. Girls on the other hand wow they are super attractive. Not all of them but some of them are like a 100 out of 10

However, women usually put more effort into looking good (and there are more products to help them to do so) than men do. Hence there are more women who appear to be good looking than men.

Probably. Men focus less on our physical appearance in general than women. Women obsess over fashion, make-up etc. This is mainly because their attractiveness is mainly based on their looks whereas for men there's more to it e. g. confidence, success, ambition etc.

  Women like rejecting guys cuz it feels good to their ego. Even if a guy is attractive they will still like doing it because they figure there will always be more guys to come along. And they like being able to talk about guys they weren't attracted to, as a sly way of bragging about all the guys that are into them that they aren't into.
  
  I think most women have an arrogant vibe about their looks. But I'll tell you something: women - but especially very attractive women - hate it when there's a guy who is NOT showing her interest or falling all over her, and ESPECIALLY if the guy is ignoring her in a room and talking to the other females instead. I know because I do it all the time with women like that, some of them even on my job. They want your attention to validate them, and they want you to approach them so they can have a reason to act snobby with you or reject you. All for the satisfaction of their ego.

Not really. I see good looking guys and girls often. I'd say that there might be more good looking girls in their late teens to early 20s, but afterwards it levels out and then by the time they're in their 30s and beyond, there's probably more good looking guys than girls.

  I come from very large town in England. And here men are very well groomed and stylish. Even my cousins that from from thenother side of the country always notice how well dressed men over here are. With their hair styled, and well put together outfits.
  
  I often visit another town not too far away called Winchester and it's completely different there. Everyone dresses very laid back compared to my home town. A lot of men don't style their hair and often wear casual t-shirts, and genes with converse. It was quite an eye opener to me, I hadn't realised how dressy we all are where I'm from.

  I think the whole 'appearance' trend is largely exaggerated towards something that hardly makes sense. Many people would assume that to look good, you have to be sexually attractive to everyone; which obviously isn't possible, since everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Not to forget about the oh so popular 'rate-me' scale. Of course people enjoy getting praise and compliments for their hard work, but largely every person is 'average' that's why it's called average in the first place, and it's not a bad thing at all to be 'average' which it would seem that some people think.
  
  Now, 'good looking' what does that entail? That we are attracted to that person? Or is it enough that they appeal to us in another way? Men and woman each have their own way of working on their appearance, but your average person around the globe all have similar perks, with a few variations.
  
  If we go with the standard way to calculate good looks, which to me would mean working out, being healthy and taking proper care of ourselves, then that's all it takes to be 'good looking' something everyone has access to, completely free of any cost, except for time and sweat. If we instead go with a more sexualized means to measure good looks it'd just turn out even more subjective. In the end, to make a proper assessment, there'd have to be a universal means to judge 'good looks'.
  
  People are way too harsh on themselves, reaching for the unrealistic goal of being attractive to everyone, when all they really need, is to be attractive to one person.

I read somewhere that a good looking man is like 1 in 100. So I think a good looking woman would be 1 in 10. A truly good looking unique man like ian somerhalder is probably 1 in thousands, if we are counting the whole world

  Then I'll ask you, can you be sure that your point of view isn't skewed based on your own preferences rather than that of the whole? As a man, I'd agree that I see attractive women more often, but as a person, I can still tell good looking people apart, regardless of gender.
  
  If we go with the first perceivable layer, you could say that it's more common to spot an attractive women, because there's more women using makeup, than there are men who's working out. If we go with the very base however, people usually live roughly the same lifestyle, and both men and women would attempt to be more or less healthy, in some manner.
  
  I believe, that according to our current ideals, enforced by the powers-that-be, have made it so that men has to do less than women, in order to be presentable, can you believe that some women won't even leave their homes without first applying makeup? If we go with this line of thought, isn't it much more simple for a guy to just run a little, and be considered 'good looking'?
  
  Disregarding all that, if men and women could just be themselves, entirely without influence, I still believe that neither gender is more or less prone to be 'good looking'.

  I think a big issue is a lack of options for men. There are very few manly salons out there (no, I'm not making that term up). They do exist, like Tune Up, but they aren't everywhere and are very expensive. For instance, a facial and haircut will cost you $60 for just one visit! What we need is more manly salons, more availability. This will create competition which will inevitably bring prices down and make it easier for men to take care of their looks.

  I don't know about that. That's a big jump. Good looking means attractive, it doesn't mean hot. If one defines good looking at top pinnacle of looks, then it will be rare. But I've had pretty women call me cute, handsome, hot, good looking, nice body. I'm not a 10 or nine. If you're above average in looks, you are good looking, just not really, super good looking. Handsome is good looking. If it was rare, you wouldn't hear so many women say "he's cute" "he's fine" this dude, that dude, etc.

  Yes I would say honestly out of 100 men you see on the street maybe not 1 but 5 are above average. Out today I saw probably over 100 guys and only like 5 stood out. I think I can judge as I've had women call me handsome and I'm above average, but not like by a lot. Also girls call average or below average men cute because they have a personal appeal to them. I've thought of not objectively pretty girls as cute because it's my own personal taste. But there are definite universal ways of facial beauty that everyone knows and that's what I say when I mean good looking

  You're a dude so you're not going to see too many guys good looking. A dude had to be like Chris Hemsworth good looking for me to notice if a guy is good looking or not, because of being straight. Like I can't recognize the inbetween too well. The men that I could see as good looking at what women would find really hot or like model looks or the butt ugly dudes. Like I said with Chris Hemsworth and like wise. Gene Simmons is quite an ugly dude. He's gotten tons of pussy but that's because he's a rock start or that fame and status that women will bang dudes who have that even if not handsome or even if ugly. But I don't think it's that rare, I've had plenty of girls check me out or find me cute without having ever talked to them. So they knew nothing of my personality to attract them. No, not really. I see quite a bit of overweight and unattractive women whereas I notice a lot of the males around me are rather fit from their time spent in a gym. Women are just worshiped regardless of their weight, height, breast size, etc., by both men and women whereas only women and gay men are attracted to men. The amount of people who will find men to be good looking is disproportionate to the amount of people who fill find women to be pretty since men are not typically attracted to one another like how women are with each other.

The female answers here really just prove how women have high standards. "His hair is too long" or "he isn't muscular enough" or "he isn't tall enough" etc. Men don't complain nearly as much because every woman has something attractive about her that we can find, even if she is overweight. The same could be said regarding men but women choose to focus more on the small imperfections.
