What do you think of non-white wedding dresses? Ladies, would you ever wear one?

Depends on the color and look of the bride, but it’s fine. And I would not wear a wedding dress.

I would wear some variation of a tux, though. Maybe a complimentary color to hers (blue to yellow), etc. I might consider changing it up a little between ceremony and reception... change the colors of the vest and tie maybe...

She always envisioned doing an alternative wedding dress.

I’m all for it as long as the dress is a lighter color.

We decided that if we did last and get married, she’d do the light purple dress like the last example picture on this post.

Women never really wore white wedding dresses before the age of Queen Victoria who started this trend. Women just wore whatever nice dress they had on hand so all of this business about women "having" to wear white is a bit ridiculous. I think a woman, as per usual, should wear what she loves. I personally hate wearing white---so I would not be opposed in anyway against wearing a colorful wedding dress, but maybe not such a deep saturated color, more on the lighter side---less funeralesque and more spring/summer vibes.

Wear whatever you like, it's your wedding. The single-use white wedding dress is just a very long-running fad, no more sensible than the diamond engagement ring. Women used to get married in the best dress they already owned. My wife did marry me in a white dress. A few months after she met me, she saw it at a thrift store for $10. From Priscilla of Boston, It fit perfectly and she bought it just in case. Eight years later she got to wear it. But there is no way we would have spent a thousand dollars or more on a new dress.

well, everyone can live their lives how they want. at the end of the day, what's important is that you love each other. however, you only get one life, and i am not going to wear a 10 dollar wedding dress. i am going to spend thousands of dollars on my dress. to me, it doesn't matter if i'll never wear it again. it's what i want, and it's what will make me feel beautiful on the day that is one of the most important in your life. unless it's your 3rd wedding. then maybe i'd just reuse my first two.

Well, traditionally speaking the white was meant to symbolize the woman’s purity AKA virginity. As the vast majority of women getting married are no longer virgins, I see no point in continuing that tradition. Not a criticism just an observation. Ultimately I’d say wear whatever dress color you want. It’s their wedding, and unless they’re super hung up on tradition I do t really see the point of making the dress white.

I would not go with a black one but generally I love the idea and would consider it. I hate the notion of buying an expensive dress just to wear it once so I was already planning on maybe something that does not scream "wedding dress" but can still pass as one so I can enjoy it for some other occasions too.

Not in those colours, they are way to bold and wouldn't be even allowed by my culture. If you want to get away from white you can wear subtle colours that are still relatively close to it, like ivory, beige, a light salmon colour, etc. Or add some coloured details.

mm I don't mind it, it's actually very cute and different. The second picture is very morticia Addams and I love it. I think people think white dresses are kinda cliche and something every does so they want to break away from it and do something out of the norm. Honestly I wouldn't care, I like the style of the dress then I will wear a colored one.

hell no. what, are you going to prom? God forbid one of your female guests shows up wearing the same dress. White makes you stand out. if you wear a different colour, you'll just blend into the background, and again, you may be outshined by your bridesmaids. yikes, i see this all the time. like hell nah, i am not having any of my bridesmaids outshine me. so they better not insist on wearing a "champagne" dress or any of that shit. they're wearing blue or purple.

I would so wear other than white. Anymore with all the divorces and women having had many sex partners a white dress signifying a woman's virtue and purity is a joke. This is my favorite but maybe too much for a real wedding. I'd do something simpler and not as expensive.

The U. K.'s well-to-do Queen Victoria popularized the white dress. In the past (minus the today's highly-effective clothing-detergents & washing-machines), only wealthy people could afford white clothes (and keeping them white). So, colored clothes were the norm.

Non-white wedding dresses are beautiful. It gives your entire wedding a new look as it won’t be boring and plain like traditional white dresses. If one day I do get married, I’d want to marry in a maroon dress.

Yes, I would. Because in Muslim/Asian weddings the girl traditionally wears red or gold, but the colour of the dress isn't really a huge deal.

I've always wanted a red dress. Lots of cultures have red dresses as the traditional dress. When it did become popular, it was because white was very difficult to keep clean back then and that was a good way of showing off your wealth.
