Why do most beauty products get discontinued when they get really popular?

I don't know if it also happens with other products but I've noticed whenever a beauty product gets really popular they discontinue it after some time.

Working in the field by product creation I've realized this...
Supply and demand.
Anticipation and creating a stir/hype creates high level of anticipation for you are more likely to ask about it. Recommendations & research and request it that it gets more feedback and reviews giving it better status among people as the demand becomes higher = higher profit.

I think it might be due to the fact that they want to keep options fresh and when one gets used too much they don't want it to get too burned out, too fast. It keeps their interest while leaving them wanting more. Well that's at least my guess anyway 🤔

I'm not a part of the culture so this is 100% speculation, but maybe they don't want a success to become so pervasive that it becomes basic, typical, or uncool to use. Maybe they just want to quit while they're ahead.

Most of the time they make improvements to the products so they discontinue the older version. A lot of times they change ingredients or packaging

a popular product has a tendency to lower its profits over time, it can be months or years, but it will eventually lower.

while having neve products that create excitement, can bring better initial sales more often... so in the long run, it's better to have more attractive products, that long standing popular ones.

This is also because of the market, it is makeup, a lot of the people who use these products want new and different and to try more, not to stick to the same look for months or years, every season in the year is a new chance to try somethign exciting and new, no?
