If the girl is just not comfortable or not satisfied with whatever style her hair currently is then she has full rights to change her hair. And there is nothing hating about that.
I don't know about "self hating" but I think curly hair is beautiful. Nothing like a nice thick head of hair to run your fingers through when you're kissing someone.
Ok then by that reasoning, it is unnatural for ANYONE to have short hair. By nature, our hair grows out long for a reason, and that is to protect us from the cold and from our body heat escaping through our heads (warmth rises, after all).
The same can be said for our finger nails, which are meant to be used as tools to help us dig, eat, etc...
So am I self-hating because I cut my hair really short, trim my nails, and tidy up my pubic hair?
I didn't say they were race issues, I was referring to them as being either natural or unnatural. In fact, you were the first to introduce race in this comments section ;)
And yes, it is natural to have long hair. Because it falls out or otherwise gets naturally "shaped" through abuse doesn't mean that it wouldn't happen if we just let our hair be. If left unattended, our hair would grow to very long lengths naturally. So how do you figure it isn't natural?
Everyone has a point at which their hair stops to grow. It is neither natural or unnatural to have long or short hair. You're pulling that out of your ass. Not everyone (regardless of race) is capable of growing long hair. Some girls can only grow it shoulder length while others can grow it to the floor and beyond
And again, I didn't say everyone grows it to the floor lol. Good grief, you're dense. I'm simply making the point that styling, cutting, or otherwise changing our hair for aesthetic purposes isn't natural. I was making the point that we all do things to ourselves that isn't natural, but somehow it's just black women that are "self-hating" for changing their appearance? Get real. You aren't drawing the answer you'd like to hear out of me. If you're insecure with your race, that's your problem.
You're going around in circles, likely because you don't even know what you were trying to say.
And I'm not insecure about being part black. In fact, none of this has anything to do with insecurity. As I said above, I wear my hair curly.
Straight hair is unnatural for black women. People on here preach about how "fake" is suchhhh a turn off yet on this question, because it's about black women, y'all are somehow champions for them
My entire point has been the same this whole time lol. You are lumping entire groups of people together out of bitterness and ignorance. So everyone on GAG says something, it must be true all across the board. And since everyone else, being the champions they are, stand up for black women straightening their hair like it's some revolutionary new thing for someone to do. So far, we have all of GAG somehow and for some reason being your authority on this topic, and we have everyone else.
Care to get any more descriptive with the "people here" and all the other people? Get off of GAG and experience the real world, because it's turning you jaded.
And yes, it does have to do with insecurity. Of course you don't recognize it, because you're so wrapped up in pleasing the people of GAG that you also seem to dislike. Do you actually realize how little fucking sense you're making with all of this?
And lastly, are you Evangelina/peace.love.couture? Because you sound an awful lot like her with this preoccupation with race, your bitterness towards anything that so much as creates the slightest assumption of "injustice", and your refusal to accept anything but what you'd like to hear.
And even with that, you still like to argue for the sake of it. And when that doesn't work, you turn to playing the "u mad" card when you run out of things to say. You must be her
Who? And yes, this is quite the definition of insecurity. I mean look at your response just now and see how in my latest of 3, you fit the bill perfectly.
Of course you're not wrong. Yes it's unnatural for black women to do anything with their hair but leave it natural. Yes, I disagreed with you and because of that, I live in a poor, whiny, pathetic world. I apologize dearly for not wanting to please the people of GAG.
Butthurt, white defense mechanism? lolol I'm Hispanic ;)
So since you not only assumed I'm white (like I already mentioned you would), but think I'm trying to put you down simply for disagreeing with you...does that not prove exactly what I said once again?
Well I guess it depends on the reason one would straighten their hair or wear makeup. I am not a prissy girl, but I Love to get my nails done. I don't know why, I just like long nails and all the designs you can put on a nail. My hair is curly and it drives me crazy, but I wouldn't straighten it just to fit in. It takes too long and I don't give a shot what other people think about how I look. Although I do like to look good lol
Yes and no. Yes if they think that straightening their hair will make them better socially but no if they are just trying out a look or style. Do you straighten your hair because of self hate?
No. I straighten like twice a year to see how long it is without shrinkage. But I wear it curly or in a bun everyday with leave in conditioner. I like my curly hair...

Not necessarily. It depends on the purpose of doing it. For some, maybe, but not all of course
No not at all. It's just a different style. I have curly hair and I like to straighten it occasionally to switch things up
Would it be self hating to get a tattoo just because you weren't born with a picture of Mickey Mouse on your shoulder?
Ha no. It's fashion and as Pandamonium (wtf? lol) said, I don't see how trying out a look is considered "self-hating"?
Because they're altering their hair texture and it's unnatural to those types of women

Actually, long hair/short hair is neither natural or unnatural. So I'm not sure where you're getting with this one.
And nails and pubic hair are not race issues. Essentially everyone has nails and/or pubic hair. This is about self hating due to race.
black cannot have straight hair naturally

Anon-ee-mous, this has nothing to do with insecurity. But it's obvious that's your only defense. Sounds personal.
And you're also going around in circles. You don't seem to even follow what you say.
And I experience the real world enough. Maybe not the pathetic, whiny, poor world you all experience on here, but I do :)
"your bitterness towards anything that so much as creates the slightest assumption of "injustice""
someone is full of shit. This has nothing to do with injustice. typical butthurt, white defense mechanism
I guess you seem to enjoy playing the "you're insecure" card, huh?
Who? And yes, this is quite the definition of insecurity. I mean look at your response just now and see how in my latest of 3, you fit the bill perfectly.

Can you ever forgive my insolence?
Ironically, you seem rather obsessed with me pleasing you and the people of GAG. So I'm sure it would bother you if you didn't make people happy
Butthurt, white defense mechanism? lolol I'm Hispanic ;)

I'm answering your question on here. How is that pleasing you? good god, you are something else lol
Is it self hating to wear makeup?
On this website, yes, makeup is self hating and fake. As is nail polish, hair dye, perfume
Well I guess it depends on the reason one would straighten their hair or wear makeup. I am not a prissy girl, but I Love to get my nails done. Thanks for the point :)
No. If a girl wants to straighten her hair that's her choice.
I fail to see how that is self hating
