How to keep the conversation going with emojis?
When it comes to responding to an emoji, there are a few things you can do to keep the conversation going. First, you can reply with another emoji. This is a great way to show that you're interested in what the other person is saying and that you're also willing to keep the conversation going.
Another option is to use a string of emojis to create a sentence. This is a great way to be creative and to also keep the conversation going. Finally, you can use a combination of both options to keep the conversation going.

I send a funny meme condemning thier use of emojis. Showing that
1. It's not the brevity of the text that bothers you but the lack of conversational content
2. It's not a big deal. Written text usually feels more formal using a meme kind of softens it. I argue strictly in memes or in person.
3. It's completely okay to use pictures. He'll start using memes too.
Using a meme also stops you from rambling.
Sometimes when there's not much left to say the conversation just fizzles out. There's point in trying to force the conversation so some people will have short responses to let it end on its own.
This is not a case of lack of interest, there just maybe very little to talk about at that specific time
Just send a heart emoji and leave it at that. Don't try to force the conversation to continue if there isn't much to talk about. And ending at a point where you still want to talk will just give you something to be excited about - next time you talk/talking again.
Sometimes you don't have to, that just means he's happy. You could respond back with another emoji and that'd be fine.

Nothing, I don't reply to emojis
Reply with a different /weird/funny emoji that'll have him ask you what you meant by the emoji, or tell you whatever his thoughts were with your response.
Or you can ask a question or say something that'll create another conversation...
If neither works. Just let that be. Don't reply. Trying to force a conversation would make the friendship fizzle out faster. Sometimes it's just okay to not reply, he could also be implying that the conversation is over since he only sent an emoji. You can either not reply or just say good night or whatever is appropriate.Like you said, nothing to talk about. The only things you can do is either send a kiss back, and he'll send one back and so on and that quickly spirals into an annoying chore... Or, come up with a new topic. What're you thinking in that moment? What were you thinking about earlier today? Is there a topic that interested you earlier on TV? On YouTube? That you talked to your mother about? Anydamnthing.
Point is, his resorting to an emoji signifies he /also/ can't think of anything. It's not necessarily that he doesn't want to continue (although that's a possibility too)
You can't just /want/ the conversation to keep going without adding more.Do NOT answer it. If the conversation has gotten down that far, you've obviously had chances before then to show interest. Now, back off a little and keep him guessing. Don't answer, wait 30 hours or so and text him casually to start up another conversation.
Don’t replay. Try to avoid that person, cause they don’t want to have contact with you. When I came to my new job, this guy acted rude and childlish around me. Ignoring me on purpeous. I tried texting him, for his opinion, or help, or sent a joke to be friendy cause he wasn’t. He never replayed to my questions. The only time he replayed was when I wished him a happy birthday, and it was the only time we had a “conversation”. Last time I asked him for help. He answered but when I answered back he sent 👍, and when I sent him a segment of a video on something he was saying a joke he just did this 😍. It was obvious after that that he doesn’t Like me. So, I stoped. I barley say hello, don’t Text him if i realy, realy don’t need him. So why do you think you should communicate with someone who is just being polite, saying I don’t want to talk to you.

I personally wouldn't if the other person makes that little effort, i wouldn't want to reply to them.
I don't think it's that important to keep the conversation going at this point. Just text him if you have to tell something or wanna share something but non stop texting or ending emoji just to be in contact is strange
You don’t respond. He’s horny and immature and just looking for someone easy. He doesn’t seem really interested or much depth to him. If you’re not looking for that I suggest casually putting him on block lol.
Well if he sends you this one you will know for sure what he wants.
If they only sent an emoji they can't get pissed off if you don't reply. It'll let them know they need to lift their game and text something better next time rather than try drag a conversation out.
How about with an emoji that you're feeling and a very general question following... How's your day coming along, what are your plans tonight? Or even, "hey let's do something tonight/this weekend"
Do you like this guy? You say something like "I prefer the real thing to emoticons".
🧐🤔🧐 <<<Respond with this. He will then know his last message didn’t make any sense and he will immediately understand that if he doesn’t send a clarifying message that he will lose you and he will never recover relationship-wise.
Maybe he’s got nothing else to say. My opinion… but maybe he’s just not in a texting mood. Good luck💕🎀
If you want to make it fun, send an emoji that would not make any sense, to keep him guessing what you meant by that.
🔀 or 🗜️Just text the person sending it back saying, " I don't know how to respond to emojis, what do you mean by that?"
Ask how the person's day was, start the convo by asking questions. For example, what's your fav food?
If you agree use the same emoji they sent twice. If you disagree send the “opposite “ emoji once followed by lol
I hate it when people do that, that isn't having a conversation! really annoys me and puts me off talking to them
