Do women ever have to win a man over?

Anonymous
It seems like the whole premise of traditional dating revolves around a man winning a woman over, and little to no reciprocation.

That is, she deserves his affection by default, while he must earn her affection. If he leaves, "he's a jerk". If she leaves, "he wasn't good enough to keep her." Either way, we say he was the one who screwed up. HE was supposed to court her, and HE was the one who failed. Doesn't matter her standards, or if she actually has anything to offer herself.

This even comes down to who is supposed to initiate, pay, propose, buy the ring, etc.

I've rarely heard of a guy having a list that includes things like money, gifts, protection, or needing to be chased. The big things seem to be sex and being relatable. And women like sex, too, do they not? So why is it so selfish if a man likes the idea? Why does the man have to fight to keep her around, but she doesn't have to do the same? Why does he need to impress her, but she doesn't need to impress him?
