Seems like there are a lot of insecurities in the comments on this
But it depends on the situation. I have social skills, so I don’t respond the exact same way to a similar situation every time because each situation is different. - A lot of guys tell me that when they first see/meet me. So they don’t mean “beautiful”; what they really mean is “pretty” or “good-looking” or physically attractive. They’re just trying to make it sound nicer, as if they’re not sitting there checking me out and thinking I might not know the difference. - Many guys will say it online, like here or on Facebook. Okay, you have no idea who I am. So in this case, there are two possibilities: 1) He actually does pay attention to my stuff and thinks I’m beautiful, considering that’s unique and he doesn’t say this to everybody online out of desperation. 2) He’s just desperate and says it to everybody. This is why when guys on this site tell me it, or even on social media for that matter, I don’t pay it attention. Because it’s most likely not genuine. If it is genuine he will make it obvious, and those are exceptional situations. So therefore, usually, social media doesn’t count. Couldn’t care less. - When a guy tells me that and he actually knows me, maybe is just saying it because he wants to tell me or he actually wants to take things further, this is GENUINE. This is the only time I take it seriously, and I get very flattered - often speechless - and yeah my face will turn a little pink and it makes me smile, and I’ll say thank you. Usually I end up following it with a conversation and won’t just leave him hanging. That way if he is trying to take it further he has a conversation leadway instead of me just cutting it off on him.
So... all depends on if it’s genuine. The situation matters.
In all honesty I don't really like it because I don't believe them (thanks to childhood trauma and conditioning) even though I know they're right and my subconscious is wrong. I've learned to just say thank you, move on asap, and not make a big deal of how much I dislike compliments in general because words are just empty breaths. I'm pessimistic when it comes to romance in general so I'm really annoying lol.
Um... thanks. Receiving compliments about my looks has always been odd for me. As early as being in single digit age receiving them was an awkward thing. Not sure why and I know I am a decent looking guy and still to this day receive compliments... it just always felt strange to receiving them. Especially the more genuine and heart felt they would be towards me or if it was feature related.
Example, my ex would constantly comment about my “beautiful skin” and how she felt mine was way nicer than hers. I disagree as I felt hers was significantly nicer and she was also significantly younger, but I just accepted the compliment.
Well to be very honest I totally dislike any and all kinds of compliments and I never want to hear any compliments and never want people to give me any. However, that being said I don't control people's action so people are free to say what they want to me.
Yes, when they do something nice or compliment me I just turn a deaf ear to those compliments, I don't say anything nor do I react in any way. I just ignore those compliments
For one, i have never been called beautiful. I have been told that i look good or handsome a time or two. Not very much. I makes me fell pretty damn good to hear those words come out of a girls mouth and know there directed towards you and she means it. Every girl that has ever complimented me on my looks, i have allways gave them my attention and had a conversation with them.
If it's someone other than my husband who is constantly telling me this, I normally politely thank them, whilst feeling my cheeks getting hot and going bright red.

Well women don't really call guys beautiful, guys call women beautiful, but I appreciate their comments them saying to me I'm good looking I'm cute, I'm handsome. When I was a teenager. This 19 year old girl called me gorgeous when she was cutting my hair
I feel so good and happy when someone calls me beautiful, but unfortunately it is not something that happens to me 😧

I take it as a lie as it's always by strangers who have never seen my face, I've never been called as such to my face so it wouldn't feel as a truth from a stranger who's never even seen me.
