me and my really good guy friend have this thing and we hook up but are not together due to complications.

I get along well with some of his friends and will sometimes flirt with them in group situations. They are flirtatious with me so I am in return with them.

I don't think it's bothered my friend; when he hears about/sees them overtly hitting on me he will roll his eyes and shake his head, in private with me sometimes he'll act annoyed at them (but not at me so far). he heard about one of them getting drunk and grabbing my butt and said "wow. I'm going to kill him."

i wonder if he would rather have me not flirt with them; he hasn't said anything about me flirting with them yet and he can be pretty flirtatious too so I assumed he wouldn't mind... I was kind of hoping he would just know that I am interested in HIM and not his friends, regardless if I flirt with them or not. But I'm wondering. Guys, would you get annoyed with me?

ALSO -- I don't like playing games, but I wonder if a bit of jealousy could be a good thing. Just so he knows that he's not the only possibility for me. I do a lot for him and I don't want to be too much of a pushover :-)

If he is really interested in you then why doesn't he take it to the next level and be your boyfriend?. Your fwb's sees that you are flirtatious with him as well as several other guys, so how can he differentiate the fact of you liking him and not them also?

  Being friends with benefits doesn't really mean much... a lot of people sleep with those that they do not want to be in a relationship (only because it is convenient for them to get sex.) You have to tell him the way you feel.

  It's not about him not "taking it to the next level". There are personal problems going on that we've talked about and mutually decided that right now would not be a good time for us to be together in an actual relationship. I don't know if friends with benefits is the correct term because we both care for each other but simply cannot be in a relationship at the moment. this probably sounds naive of me, but knowing what's going on with him, I understand. It's a difficult situation.

  we've been boyfriend/girlfriend in the past but broke up almost a year ago and have remained close friends. we recently started hanging out/hooking up/growing closer again.

If he knows you like him and you've already seen he likes you because he protects you, kind of, don't be stupid and flirt with other guys. You'll end up hurting him and losing his friendship.

  You're friends with benefits with your best friend, and you flirt with his friends; but you still expect him to some how come to the conclusion that you like him more than just a f*** buddy... ok.

If you like him..you can't be hooking up with him. You might think he's jealous because he MIGHT like you but most of the time if a guy acts that way around that sort of situation, he thinks you'll wind up f***ing other dudes. We don't like that. What you've gotten yourself into is a bad situation and I disrespect you for it
