Stupid stereotypes it is. Next time 'someone gives her a crap' about it, tell her to ask them why she shouldn't. I guarantee you they can not give her ONE constructive reason. The fact that guys USUALLY voice interest first is not a reason, it's a stereotype. And stereotypes are never a valid reason why one thing may not happen.

She is IMO, actually very brave and ballsy to have made the move herself. I know so many girls who keep waiting for a guy to ask them out, when BOTH actually like each other and the guy never does it because he's shy and doesn't want to risk the friendship in fear of rejection.

It's perfectly alright for a girl to voice interest, and in most cases, it saves the guy from lots of tension and nervousness.

Also, no matter what you do, people will always give you crap. If you are good looking, you are a hoe, if you are great at studies, you are a nerd, if you are very successful in your work field, you 'don't have a life'. Just f*** people's opinions because they keep talking regardless what you do.

In engagements, I DO believe the girl should wait for the guy to propose, but you see, there is a valid reason for that. A guy knows when he is financially stable enough to settle down, because he is the bread winner in the family. But in these cases, it's perfectly alright, and in my opinion, very admirable from the girl's side.

The reason why women don't ask men out is due to several reasons. A) it is customary for a guy to ask a woman out. B) women like to know they are wanted and be pursued. C) the person asking for the date typically pays for said date. D) the fear of rejection is too much to bear

If both sexes had the same level of confidence and asked each other out, I feel that there would be less people settling for what they get. Why not go for what you want in life instead of waiting for it to fall in your lap? Life is short, go for it.

I don't see why people give her crap. I just don't understand why some people expect men to do all the work these days. What she did is fine, and you should tell her that. If she wants to ask people out, that's great! Tell her not to let what people think of her affect her.

Certainly why not? because apart from the difference of sex there is no difference in any thing else..today woman is adding along in all the matters with the guys equally so why in this aspect? otherwise also a relationship is based between two people who should be equally interested in each other..so where does it matters who takes lead or approach in a particular aspect of relationship to the other mate first? afterall it's basically one for both and both for one ...isnt it?

Not only is it okay for a girl to ask a guy out, it's great. People that give her crap about it need to back off. Why exactly do they think it's so horrible for a girl to express interest in a guy by asking him out on a date? Your friend sounds like a wonderful woman.

it's totally okay with me. if anything, it serves to improve my views about her because it shows that she knows what she want and isn't willing to ask about it. she isn't shy (or at least is willing to overcome it) and knows how to talk to people. either way, it's definitely better than waiting to be asked out.

i would guess that the guys that gave her crap for it are totally jealous that they aren't the guy being asked out and the girls are jealous they don't have the guts to do it.
