It’s a local dessert called 빙수 (bingsu) and it’s shaved ice. The base ice is actually made from frozen milk. The traditional one has a sweet read bean paste, 인절미 (injeolmi) which is like a rice cake and soy bean powder. Then, you pour diluted condensed milk over it.
Bingsu comes in many different flavours, from strawberry to kiwi to melon to Oreo.
My favourite is injeolmi bingsu. It’s bingsu goodness without the red bean paste. It’s usually just shaved milk ice, injeolmi, soybean powder, peanut powder and some kind of nut (usually almonds). Then we just pour the condensed milk.
It’s really good in the summer a it’s refreshing. It costs about 4,500KRW (about USD$5) for one and you can share it between 2 people.
