  • It has a lot to do with old old beliefs/traditions. Catholics can't eat meat during lent but they can eat fish because for whatever reason 2000 years ago they figured aquatic creatures weren't animals. But like I said now days it's because it's engrained into a large percent at least of western cultures population that fish isn't meat because of Catholicism.

    • People tell me it's because fish isn't warmblooded and meat had been classified as flesh from a warm blooded animal.

    • We'll what makes a rat meat? There's a lot more "meat" on the bones of an alligator than a mouse

    • Not to mention birds came from dinosaurs so bird meats ancestor was reptile meat.

What Guys Said 9

  • Fish is not meat, it's fish. Just as fruit is fruit, not vegetables. Fish is a flesh food, but is not meat.
