Why do so many people find losing and keeping weight off hard?

I feel there are so many people who are uneducated in BASIC human functionality, specifically in regards to exercise, and nutrition.
This does not refer to those with illnesses, diseases etc that impair functions of the body that affect wight loss.
I feel with a little bit of research of a few basic concepts, is all you need to really get into good shape.
It's not hard for find good exercises to do either.
Are people just lazy, busy, or aren't consistent and persistent?

    • It's really not that hard though? I struggle to get really out of shape in the first place (Yes, i'm young and my metabolism and testosterone levels help immensely, but still).
      I guess for people who don't go to the gym frequently or do a sport/exercise in general it'd be a completely different lifestyle.
