Is Cheesecake a type of pie or cake?

  • It's a conundrum. It has characteristics of a pie. The biggest thing is the crust, and it's crust is very non traditional for a pie both in makeup and in that it only is on the bottom. Most pies have a slanted back edge piece. I'm going to say cake purely for the reason it has cake in it's name.

  • It's a pie. It's like a pudding pie, except the pudding is cream cheese.

  • It actually falls into the pie category (in my native language it actually is called cheesepie due to that).
