  • My father's borsch is an atrocity. His pelmeni, however, are something difficult to put into words. The general consensus would be "good, very good, yes" but that doesn't BEGIN to cover it.

  • Couldn't agree more. Pelmeni and Cheburek are their biggest cultural achievement. (And Vodka of course)

  • I had dumplings once, and my parents buy food from this Russian store sometimes. I'm not a fan of it or Eastern European food in general. But I do like your bread and chocolates.
The dumplings were okay, but I like Polish ones better. LOL

    • Since you have family there I imagine it's different for you. But I know they're pretty strict. You have to give them your itinerary and you have to stick with it.
Where in the US do you live?

    • I know my babushka has to do some paperwork well before and I think customs just confirms it when we get there.

There's always a military guy that comes over to see my dad but I think that's just because my dad was in the Russian army before he moved to the US. Maybe a friend of his. I don't think they're trying to make sure we are where we're supposed to be.

  • Being Bulgarian the cuisine of the Slavic countries tends to be close so, yeah you can say I have. Also I like you don't just eat Russian food. It's so amazing and the feeling of a hot vegetable soup cooked in an old white metal pot with flowers painted on the side can't be described. I think I'm being way too emotional bout food. Maybe cause it's 4 in the morning. Good night

  • Well, I'm a vegetarian, I tried some Russian vegetarian food like Pirozhki stuffed with mushrooms, meatless Borscht, and Seitan Stroganoff.
    I liked it very much.
