It can be. The key is to look and wait for sales, and stock up on things when they go on sale. Never overpay for anything and ONLY shop at grocery stores that have the cheapest prices. Many grocery stores carry the exact same items, but they can vary wildly in price from store to store. Only shop at stores where you can get what you need at the cheapest prices.
Once you start shopping around, you'll begin to learn what is a good price for each item over time. You can save A LOT of money over time by being a careful shopper. Enough to pay for trips, help with mortgage payments, or to just put in the bank.
Start shopping with your mom or dad to learn about what things cost, how much food costs each week and how to budget for it. The more you know now, the less pressure you'll feel when the time comes where you will be shopping for yourself. 😉🙂

Depends. What store? How much are you buying? What are you buying? Etc.
