  • We call it läsk collectively. This includes all carbonated sweet beverages. If it's fruit flavoured, but not citrus flavoured, it's called soda, but it can still be called läsk.

Any cola flavoured beverage is called Kola.

    I'm from Sweden.

  • That map is a lie. I live in southern Illinois, and literally every single person in the entire area that I've met in my entire life has referred to it as "soda". The only time in my entire life I've heard anyone refer to it as "pop" was from my cousin when she lived in Iowa.

A more accurate map would have Iowa, Minnesota, the Dakotas, and maybe Wisconsin blue, and the entire rest of the country yellow--without exception.

  • I don't know. I’ve lived in all of those areas and use them interchangeably. I try to be region appropriate and I often forget which I should use n make people giggle at me. From Texas I tend to wanna say coke and people take me literally in Washington.

  • We call it soda here, but I've heard pop before. Calling it coke is weird, coke is a specific type of soda, how do you even know what your talking about when you just call it coke lol?

  • Soda - Florida. Only called "Coke" when they mean "cola" in general. Pepsi is "Coke". Sprite is "soda"

  • Wait, people in the south say "coke" to drinks that aren't coke? So basically, a Fanta or Sprite is a "coke" there?

  • I never hear anyone ask for "pop". It is "soda" here, though if it is definitely a cola then "coke" or "pepsi" is usually used, even if they don't carry that particular brand.

I don’t remember the last time I heard someone call it pop, and only call it Coke when it’s the actual brand name.

  • It's pop, generally. But if you're referring to a specific drink, you'd say the name of the drink.
