I understand that, but it just seems to me that is for people who can't afford much furniture. I have a Western bias, I get that, but the comfort of a seated upright chair for eating is just a given to me.
Its not because they can't afford it, its traditional. In turkey everyone has one western table and one Asian table
Like I said, I have that Western bias or upbringing. I suppose the "Coffee Table" in front of the couch and behind the television for snacking is the closest thing I can think of to that.
