What do classy people drink whiskey with?

Whiskey is like a jack of all trades. When I did drink alcohol, particularly whiskey.


I would get a flask with whiskey on rocks. It’s elegant and one flask could last you a decent amount of time as long as you take little sips here and there

It depends on the type of Scotch, is it blended, or single malt, is smoky and petty or smooth and sweet. If it's a smooth and sweet single malt I'd chill it and have it neat, if it's a high end good blended or a blend of single malts I'd have it ove ice. If it's a smoky peaty Scotch I either wouldn't drink it or I'd have it with a mixer.

If it’s a single malt, neat. Chilled, kept in the freezer. As it warms on the tongue the flavors emerge.

Plain with ice seems to be the classiest method in my opinion.
Other methods that are less classy in my opinion include milk and coke.

Neat with a couple drops of water like @HungLikeAHorsefly said. Well, I'm not exactly classy but it's like Red Label with Coca Cola, Black with Amaretto for a Godfather, and for the Blue/Green stuff and beyond to more tasteful brands than Johnnie Walker, just a few drops of water.

With Bourbon types of Whiskey: Old Fashioned, Mint Julep or Whiskey Sour are classy cocktails. Whiskey on the Rocks (ice/water) is actually supposed to taste better than when it is Straight Up.(?) 🤷‍♂️ Now Scotch Whisky should only be sipped Straight Up or on the Rocks.

You have several choices.

The top of the list dark chocolate. Great for turning the whiskey into a desert. You don't want a really sugary sweet chocolate, so get a nice dark.

Cheese also works well. The smokier whiskey goes well cheddar. Light fragrant whiskey is best with brie or goat cheese. Try blue cheese with the spicier whiskey.

Apple pie or apple crumble goes well with high rye content whiskey like those made in the U. S. The carmel flavors compliment well.

Good Whisky (Whiskey spelled with an E is always Canadian Whiskey). Don't mix it with anything, It's probably only a venal sim for you to put 1 ice cube or a small splash of water but any coke, fruit juice etc. is sacrilegious. Keep a halfway decent whisky around for someone who wants a whisky sour and the cheapest you can find for people who drink it with sof drinks.

There's these stainless steel ice blocks. Just metalic cubes you freeze up and put with your drink. It's like adding ice but it doesn't water it down. That's the classiest I can think of.

Neat! But I sometimes put a couple of whiskey stones in. These are small cubes of stone that in the freezer that you can put into the whiskey keeping it cool without watering it down. by the way what bottle of whiskey have you got.

If it's really good whisky, you have it "neat" (straight up, no ice) with a water back. Some people will put in a single ice cube, or just chill it slightly. Oh, and you drink it with other classy people haha

Sip it and enjoy it, no ice nor mixer, a small splash of soft water if you must add any thing, Personally I use a small brandy balloon instead of a tumbler, then the heat of your hand can gently warm the whiskey releasing the aromas.

When I drink it (rarely) I typically just sip on it dependent on which type it is. Last time I took one shot after another, I passed out for a bit, couldn't stop throwing up, and was hungover for half the next day. Good times.

Scotch - single malt over 15 years: ice
Irish - single malt over 18 years: ice
Bourbon (Tennesee whiskey) isn't good...

Don't bother with a blend.
