Would you try this dish/combination?

I know that combination and I personally think it's weird but it's kinda good like ok-ish. Honestly I didn't even know that made it in a restaurant so I was mind blown. I thought that was just some weird popular trend and that chocolate rice porridge (Actually sweet and creamy like a dessert) and that dried fish (Tastes like anchovies and it's salty and savory) already taste good alone their own ways. So it's kinda like mixing ice-cream and fries which is a trend and you serve it in a restaurant lol. Skip at 3:48

Oh hell yeah, that's champurado and daing!
I grew up eating that as a 1st Gen Canadian-Filipino.

The rice is usually UUUULTRA creamy and sweet, and the daing is usually fried so that it's more of a textural element. It's that lovely mix of crunchy and soft texture, plus sweet and salty. It's like a Filipino version of salted caramel, really.

Give champurado on its own a try, and if you feel adventurous, try some daing as well! But make sure to fry it super crispy and add just a bit.

Sweet and salty mixtures are really common in Filipino cooking.

My Filipino grandmother & mother used to serve us that for breakfast when we kids growing up in Northern California. It became a "staple merienda" to me when I moved to the Philippines and lived there for 19 years. Now that I'm back in the USA, I hardly have it unless I specifically crave for it which I no longer do.

Hmmm... Maybe I'll just have 'Champorado' without anything else for breakfast tomorrow. I have a box of the instant kind. I also know how to make it from scratch.
