Have you ever had your taste buds unexpectedly put through the wringer?

OfDeath
I think we've all experienced this one. So you think you like exotic cuisine. You're a regular at your local indian restaurant, the Thai place know you on a first name basis, you've been abroad and eaten what the locals eat and you consider yourself a seasoned culinary adventurer.

One day, you get invited to dinner by maybe a neighbour, friend, colleague or someone like that. You're not going out to eat though. No, you are going to their place. This friend of yours isn't from your country or the country you've been living in for a while so you know they will cook something interesting and you're excited about. You've got this right? Wrong! What you are served is nothing you have ever eaten in a restaurant. There's a reason for that. The reason being this isn't food a restaurant would normally serve because it's food from a specific region of some exotic land. You have to have grown up eating this to enjoy it and to say it's an acquired taste is an understatement!
