Is it weird that I’m Dominican but I have an interest in making and eating East Asian food because I don’t like Dominican food?

Not at all. A lot of people prefer food from other cultures than their own. My family is Polish, and although I do like a few Polish dishes, I prefer Caribbean, Latin American and eastern Mediterranean food (when it's done right, of course). My mom finds it irritating and struggles to understand it.

Asian food is just objectively better. Northern European food is rubbish too. That's why the spice trade drove the entire world economy for centuries - so Europeans wouldn't have to eat that bland crap any more.

It's not weird at all. My mom makes Haitian food and I don't necessarily dislike it but there are cuisines I like better. I'm also a fan of Indian food and I'd say it's my favorite cuisine.

I can understand that, I’m Chinese and I like Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Syrian, Middle Eastern, French, Italian, Greek, Polish and American Food.

It's not weird we all like the food we do, I was raised eating Pasta, Hamburgers, Fries, but I do like to try new foods and am not too picky about what I eat.

Make whatever food you like, I don't see what issue there is with it, and don't make what you don't like. If you like Japanese food but don't like Dominican food, then make Japanese food. I don't see anything wrong with anything here

You're not weird, I like cooking Chinese food to. I have more Chinese ingredients and cooking ware in my kitchen than from my local culture.
