So a while ago, I saw a woman unloading something from her car and it looked heavy. I said, "Let me help you with that." To which she replied, "I don't need help. It's offensive if you think that a woman can't do it herself."
Afraid that I offended her, I walked away. I never said that she couldn't do it herself. In fact, I was just trying to be nice. I was brought up to believe that all women should be treated like queens. I believe in opening doors, carrying boxes and offering them my seat on a crowded bus because no queen should have to ask for assistance. The assistance should be offered willingly. I obviously don't think that a woman can't open a bloody door. That's ridiculous.
Was I actually being offensive? Thoughts?
