As far as I understand it, it would block the menstrual blood to come out, but that is a big problem. The blood would clot there and produce an infection at least.
Also, if you shut the vagina, how would you have sex? If you are not interested in sex at all, it works for you, but otherwise is quite a problem.

Menstruation is a discharge of blood and tissue. If it won't be discharge, it can cause problems because it is no longer needed in the body. The cramps are nasty enough so why would we add another thing to stress us during periods? 🤦♀️
