Probably because financial stability/partnership tends to come at that time as opposed to sooner. Also now women are actually living thier lives before having kids. Traveling, education, spending time with friends and partying for some is higher on the list when they are younger. It also gives them some time to grow as people before deciding on wether or not they want children.

They want to party and live it up in their 20's. That's really all it is.

I would guess that women having babies in their 30's pursued a college degree and got established in a career before becoming pregnant, and stared having children in their 30's. In recognition of the biological clock, I would expect them to be in a bigger "hurry" to have their second or third child. And because they are educated and got established in a career, they have better access to health care and a better understanding of what to do/not do to maintain their health.

People generally want to wait for a level of income security and wealth to deliver what they think of as a 'normal' life. For middle class americans now, it is difficult to achieve that in their 20s. To be honest it's difficult to achieve in their 30s, but fertility drop at the end of the 30s means a lot of families are trying to squeeze in their desired number of children as late as possible before running into fertility issues.
My guess is that they wanted to be more well put together. Financially, married, big enough house, etc. It takes lots of things to take care of a baby too so they also have to have everything (or at least enough money) to provide.

Because 20s seems too young to have babies. I'm still a baby
I wouldn’t go as far as say you are still a baby as much as through your providers (parents usually) you have been afforded a level of security to allow you to grow at a slower pace versus say, your great grandparents who likely had to grew up faster due to the times when they were younger - Great Depression, 2nd World War as plausible examples. Even at my age growing up the trend of having kids later and staying younger longer was already in effect. It is part of our first world luxury. A large number of “Baby Boomers” who were born towards the end of their generation were among those who waiting into their mid to late 30’s to start having kids. I am friends with a few who did just that, are presently in their 60’s, and have grown kids your age. Which is kind of wild when I also know I know those my age (Gen X) and younger (older Millennials) who also have children who are of the same age.
Anyway, there is a lot to be said for being born in a first world country. Have fun!
