Probably because they had a bad experience with a guy, or they're waiting for the right one while they work on themselves. Usually we post that sappy shit because it would be nice to have a S. O, but aren't fully invested because of previous negative experiences. And bragging about being happily single could be true, but some people say it just to camouflage their disappointment with not having a S. O.

I have a female friend like that. Swears to the high heavens that being single is awesome. No relationship for me she says. I'm staying single and you can etch that on stone tablets, she says. Tired of men, tired of games, tired of bla bla bla. Yet, her Facebook wall is full of nothing but relationship and dating type of posts. It amuses me. It's like trying to stay sober while constantly talking about booze. It's really bizarre.
