I think everyone changes during personal growth and due to personal experiences in life. Good and bad experiences. But some traits in people never change. For example if a person is manipulative, theyll always be that way. It's part of who they are. If someone has anger issues, they may seem to have changed, but most of the time they've just learned how go control their anger. It's still within them to experience rage or anger. I've changed a lot from when I was in my early 20's, but I'm still a very compassionate, kind and loyal person. I've just learned through experience that not everyone deserves my compassion and kindness.Pain changes people. Usually in a negatitve way. So they may seem cold-hearted , but inside they aren't. They've just learned to put up a cold exterior as a defense mechanism.
Well, some small changes will always keep happening but the very core nature and personality of a person will never change. Hence yes, " by and large" you will always be who you are.

Most do change from life experience. They either better themselves from learning by their mistakes, harden, soften, you name it. And some others just choose not to do so.
I think experiences change us... hopefully for the better.
Some people never change. But we are to change. Otherwise we get thrown out on the edge of natural selection.
People change. Many of them just don't want to. And there's limits to how much a person can change, I think.
Some people never change from my experience xx
You mature as you age.
