I’m thinking that or nominations. Like for instance say JoeSchmoe22 was nominated by another user for the role. It would pop up as a poll and if you got 70% or higher “yes” results then you became a mod.
That just becomes a popularity contest
True, but it’s also a form of community policing. If the group at large doesn’t feel that current admins or mods are performing up to snuff, then one they feel can and will, should get that job as well.
Interesting proposal. I'm not for that for an admin role, they have a lot of power and getting a bad one could damage the site a lot. I see the benefits of that option being for potential moderators but as of now, I kinda like the current system of the admins deciding.
Something I moderated for was never based on the community, it was through an application process with a lot of requirements. Only the owner/ co owner and admins were the ones who decided.
@Nayrr Yeah that's a good idea on how it should be run in my opinion. I feel like popular users on here would get nominated and voted in just because they're well known and it wouldn't be good.
@Clo917 it worked really well. These were the only thing the community could vote on.http://imgur.com/a/Si43oHf
@clo917 but a game server is a lot different than a website like this.
@Nayrr I know it'd become a popularity contest, but it would kinda be fun if the community could vote on things like that here, also be a good way to get feedback on how the moderation team is doing/who to promote and who to revoke.
@Clo917 they were just for fun really, they only showed up on your profile (kinda like what gag as with awards). I wouldn't have a problem with it.
