Guys, Why does it take you so long?

Question

My ex broke up with me 6 months ago. He did it by text and was such an ass and ignored me after even when I tried to contact him. We haven't been in touch since.
Last week he texted me a hello and sent me a pic of something I had lost at his place and said: found it and remembered you. I didn't text him back because I have moved on and am happy in a new relationship.

Anyway my question is:Why does it take guys so long to miss an ex or realize that he lost her?

It depends on how much he loved her. And sometimes he may not miss her at all. And it's not gender specific. Even women often don't miss their ex.

Not necessarily but breaking up in a shitty way and name calling and saying I never want anything to do with you ever again, to randomly texting is just weird.

Answer: He probably realized immediately that it was over, A guy may miss you right away but he lets his anger or pride get in the way of admitting it to himself and then to you. As you get older, that will be less of a problem with some guys, but other guys will never let go of that foolish pride. One of the tests for a relationship is whether your partner is willing to admit when they are wrong and apologize in a sincere way, and whether they can truly accept your apology when you admit a mistake.
