Why do guys move on from relationships so much faster than girls?

I am a girl and also move on quickly... yes my love and feelings can remain for long period of time but I don’t find it worth it to dwell on something that didn’t work out.
I don’t know how’s the entire guys are but I was in relationship also not long but I loved him so much and within a week he fell for a girl but he’s the type of guy who needs a girl and attention and show off to guys that he have a girlfriend and maybe chance for sexual things. Sometimes guys get into new dating is because they want somehow fulfill the hole in their hearts and it’s easier, or simply because they see it a waste of time to take long to move on. I am not the judge

Guys are initially all cock-a-hoop and give the impression of being back out there and one of the guys again. They tend to have a delayed reaction to breakups. It takes a couple of weeks before the reality sets in.
For girls, its more or less an immediate reaction and a few weeks later, the situation reverses and they are all cock-a-hoop and the guy is in a state.
With regards to your situation, he is probably "dating" this girl to show that he's moved on and its one in the eye for you. I reckon its for show but obviously time will tell.

maybe they have a different coping mechanism like, girls react fast to a break up and process their emotions during the month after the breakup, and guys can spend 3 months not feeling any sadness (thus feeling ok with having a new relationship) and then dealing with the breakup in some sort of time lag?
i know some guys that took forever to get over their exes, so i'm not sure...

coz guys are not as emotional as women.

Men think with the viewable physical world. Emotions and feelings come to them slowly.

Women thrive on emotions and feelings.

As soon as a man can get himself another woman to fill his time, and he is able to fill her physically, he is ready to go again.

Our reproductive system works differently and this also influences how one can think.
Looking at nature, a women can only have a child every nine months, so their priority or instinct is to find the most optimal partner and seed.
Whereas the man has higher chance of giving offspring if he spreads his seed more broadly.
The mind works in a similar regard, women need strong bonding and find it harder to let go while man should be able to make relationships but also make sure they can reproduce if one relationship fails.

Side note: Not all man find it easy to break up, similarly women can also find it easy :)

Every person is different in processing emotions and relationships ending. You mentioned your boyfriend jumped right into another relationship... can i guess that he was cheating already? wasn't as locked in as you were. I am like you, i need time to process and let the dust settle. I dont need revenge sex or a rebound lay... it will happen when it happens, no rush. Get back to taking care of you. Reestablishing your identity, your boundaries, and dont date his friends or they will do it too... right?

Men get over short term relationships faster that girls, because we don't invest our emotions as fast as females do.

But once we invest our emotions and commit to a relationship, we take longer to get over that person.

Most guys will get out of a relationship of less than a year if he is not happy or other options present themselves, but in most long term relationship. It is the female that will end the relationship, not the guy once he has settled into the relationship.

I too agree with those who said this is a generalization, but as a general rule you are right. I'm not really sure why they do move on so fast.

However, I'm in the small pool of guys who doesn't/cannot move on fast. It's been almost 6 weeks since my girlfriend and I broke up and I cannot fathom going back out there and dating yet.

I say it has something to do with their ego, usally its the guy who breaks up with a girl its beacause he's already interested in someone else. If he was the one broken up with, he wants to get a girl to fix his pride and make his ex jealous.

They don't. When people get their heart broken it hurts and despite appearances, it takes a while to get over it and move on. But that said, maybe he moved on so quickly because it wasn't as serious for him as it was for you? If he wasn't in love or didn't have strong feelings of course he's gonna move on quickly.

Thats an individual thing. Some guys need just a weekend to forget that they ever had a girlfriend, but they also probably never really loved her in the first place.
Other guys need years to move on. I have a friend who's still not fully over his ex after more than 7 years... Compared to him, I get over breakups in no time.
Most people (guys and girls) are somewhere in the middle.

I was dating a girl for 6 months and it took over a year to finally get over her. I still think of her 7 years later. But it's all a mind set, anyone, even you could get over someone quickly. I just don't know how.

Statistically, women get out there quicker than men. That being said, in your situation, the guy stopped being interested and committed to you, or maybe he never got as committed as he showed he was and he wanted to get out of it. He was ready to end it, you weren't and that set you way back and that's what gave him a head start

Girls can get a guy in seconds-maybe not their choice-where guys have to really work at it. They start immediately because they know it will take weeks or more whereas girls minutes or hours. They can afford to take their time. Plus, girls initiate most breakups-guys egos need rebuilding. It's the old adage "for girls getting sex is a choice; for guys a chore"

That's not even remotely true. I would bet that the contrary to be the case.

A lot of girls are desperate for attention when they're alone after a break up and jump to the next best guy. I've seen it plenty of times and it happened to me as well.

My ex wanted to marry me and have a family etc. I didn't want to because I wasn't happy in the relationship, and after we broke up she had a whole new boyfriend 7 days later.

However a lot of girls fall for fuckboys that seek only physical connections with the girl.
Obviously someone like that will try to go fuck the next girl that wants him.

No, women are emotionally more well suited to move on. 75% of divorces are initiated by women. And they are not well suited to monogamy, it's called hypergamy - they will grow bored with one man, cheat, bail, or simply shut down sexually. Or any combination. Not true at all. I dumped a cheating boyfriend before and not even 2 months, I went into a relationship with a nice young man who knew my story. My cheating ex was still single when he chased me down few months after while I was with my current boyfriend. I moved on so fast coz cheating bfs make it easier to forget them and cut them off. Once you cheat on me, you dead to me basically.

I am not sure that statement is correct. My future ez wife moved on a year ago I am still trying to get my act together. People are who they are and how they feel is only their personal feelings. Perhaps he never felt as strongly as you thought. The good news is there is someone for everyone. Focus on the opportunity in front of you to have the best life possible with the right mate.

It all depends on the guy. In some cases the guy will still try and talk with you like he has an obsession. Other times he just does stuff to make you feel a way to hide how he really feels. I garuntee you say he has moved on but the moment you find someone new he will try to find a way to pop up out of nowhere. Its all just a game.

Guys are always trying to find better girl for them and they comparing who is the best among all girls. When they think that who is number one girl for him on that particular realizing time, they just go direct to that girl easily within very short time

To be honest I don't know if I agree with your premise, I wasn't aware one gender consistently moved on faster. My opinion is that the person who was dumped and still wanted the relationship to continue takes longer to move on because they are the most hurt. Often the one doing the breaking up has already moved on to some degree because they are no longer satisfied in the relationship.

I don't think so. It's actually the other way around. There have been many scientific studies conducted on this topic and all of them state that men have a harder time moving on from a relationship and never fully recover from it.

I'm trying to move on for 3 years now... I love her to bits but she lives with her lover and our daughter. Going through a divorce now, after 13 years together (10 married). I'm brokenhearted and I don't think I'll be able to trust anybody ever again 😣
